📌BREAKING DOWN DF PETITION IN THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT
To starters, Democratic Front led by party president Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba , filed a constitutional petition in May 2026 challenging the conduct and illegalities cited in Uganda's January 2026 general elections.
Originally, the petition was based on nine core grounds, elaborating on widespread illegality, military interference, and technical violations by Electoral Commission, but it was reduced to six after the pre-conferencing stage.

🔗Unlawful Technology Use: DF is challenging the procurement and deployment of Biometric Voter Verification Kits (BVVK) without an enabling Act of
🔗Security Interference: DF is accusing the UPDF and the Uganda Police Force of overstepping their mandates by arbitrarily blocking opposition rallies and campaigns in major urban areas.
🔗Electoral Commission Failures: DF cites poor polling station demarcation, voter registration irregularities, and unequal distribution of state funding to political parties during the election cycle.
🔗Prayer for Relief: DF urges the court to declare specific unconstitutional anomalies even relating to the unfair treatment of DF herself and other new political parties, and address institutional abdication of duty by the electoral body.
👉Current Status: Pre-hearing conference procedures and scheduling notes between the petitioners done, and the matter was fowarded for causelisting.
