A DECADE LATER AT NALI-KYANKWANZI.

"Why the Regeneration of the NRM Cannot Wait."

Returning to the National Leadership Institute (NALI) Kyankwanzi after ten years was more than a nostalgic journey, it was a moment of reflection, learning and renewed conviction. Walking through the institution that helped shape my ideological outlook reminded me that strong political movements are not sustained by chance, they endure through deliberate mentorship, principled leadership, and continuous investment in their own people.
One lesson stood out clearly. A political organization risks weakening itself when it neglects the cadres it has patiently nurtured while placing greater emphasis on recruiting from outside its ranks. Welcoming new members is healthy and necessary for any vibrant movement, but it should never come at the expense of those who have remained committed through years of sacrifice and service!

A tree cannot flourish if its roots are neglected. You cannot cut the roots while continuing to water the branches & bexpect a lasting harvest. Likewise, you cannot plant a good seed, nurture it with patience, remove the weeds around it and then uproot it just as it begins to bear fruit because of the excitement surrounding a new variety!

Sustainable leadership is built through continuity, mentorship, and institutional memory, not quick shortcuts.

Our elders wisely say in Runyakitara, "Noyombeka kandi orukushenya"-literally meaning that, "You build as you destroy." It is a powerful reminder that institutions can unintentionally undermine themselves if they fail to protect the very foundations upon which they were built!

I firmly believe that the future of the National Resistance Movement-NRM, lies in the three(3) RS;. "REGENERATION, REVIVAL, and REFORM." These are not slogans but strategic imperatives.

The Movement 'MUST' continue welcoming those joining from other political backgrounds with open minds & goodwill, while equally protecting, mentoring, and strategically positioning its loyal cadres. Leadership development is not an event; it is a disciplined process that demands patience, consistency, humility, and time.

During my visit, I quietly separated from my team for over an hour to observe, reflect and think critically about the journey of our Movement and our country. I also had the privilege of reconnecting with two colleagues from my 2016 intake and two of our former instructors. Meeting `Afande Chapa Chapa` once again brought back memories of the values, discipline, and patriotism that NALI seeks to instill in every participant.

As I left Kyankwanzi, one conviction became even stronger, the responsibility of preserving & strengthening the NRM does not rest with its founders alone. It belongs to every generation that inherits it. "Our duty is not merely to preserve the Movement but to regenerate it, reform it where necessary, and revive its founding ideals so that it remains relevant for generations to come."

That is how we shall honour the foundation laid by our elders-not by replacing it, but by strengthening it. And that is how we shall build a stronger NRM and a better Uganda that works for all.

This is how some funny people spend their time fighting among themselves to prove who is stronger, more influential, or more powerful, while losing sight of the real challenges that threaten their common purpose!

That's how many institutions, organizations and even nations are weakened, and destroyed.

Energy that should be directed toward solving real problems is instead wasted on petty rivalries, personal egos, and trivial conflicts. In the process, people unknowingly destroy something far greater than themselves, an institution, a vision, or a legacy that could have benefited future generations!

"Strength is not demonstrated by defeating your colleagues, it is demonstrated by standing together to overcome the real enemy."
Internal divisions rarely produce winners-they only leave everyone weaker. Let us learn an important lesson from this misguided and unjust war!

SERVANT LEADERSHIP.

"Uganda Needs
Leadership that is not merely about authority, power or command; it should be ultimately about service, accountability and the willingness to place the interests of the people above personal pride."
In any nation aspiring for stability, unity, and progress, SERVANT LEADERSHIP MUST remain the guiding compass of those entrusted with public responsibility!

On "24th, May, 2025," at Kololo Independence Grounds during the "GOD FOR UGANDA CONFERENCE" organized by, 'Pastor Patience Rwabwogo & Chairman Odrek Rwabwogo,' the country witnessed a rare and profound moment in Uganda's political history. Before thousands of citizens, religious leaders, cultural and political leaders and other dignitaries, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni & the First Lady, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, publicly expressed remorse and sought forgiveness from Ugandans for any wrongs committed during their tenure in service to the nation.

That gesture transcended politics. It was a powerful demonstration of humility, responsibility, accountability, maturity, and SERVANT LEADERSHIP. It reminded us that true leadership is not measured by one's ability to wield power, but by one's willingness to acknowledge imperfections and embrace the burden of public trust.

Considering Uganda's historical journey-where we have come from, where we stand today, and where we aspire to go, such an act deserves reflection rather than ridicule. `it represented a leadership style that recognizes that NO government, institution, family, or individual is immune from mistakes`
Uganda is our motherland, but beyond the nation, each of us belongs to smaller & extended families. We understand that every family faces internal challenges, misunderstandings and personal struggles!

These realities become even more pronounced when a family lives permanently under the spotlight of public scrutiny, as is the case with Uganda's First Family.
It is therefore, important that we uphold a fundamental principle of justice and fairness;. Every individual MUST be held accountable for their own actions, blame should NEVER be transferred collectively to an entire family, institution, political party, or community because of the conduct of one individual!

Scripture teaches us that;. "Every person MUST carry their own cross." Responsibility is personal before it becomes collective!

It is also worth noting that among members of the First Family, "President Museveni, Maama Janet Museveni, Chairman Odrek Rwabwogo & Pastor Patience Rwabwogo" have repeatedly demonstrated the courage to publicly and privately acknowledge shortcomings, seek reconciliation and call for moral reflection whenever circumstances demanded it. Such humility should not be mistaken for weakness, rather, it is a mark of strength & statesmanship.

The ongoing controversies surrounding the social media conduct and public statements attributed to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, particularly those directed at senior opposition figures such as; Dr. Kizza Besigye, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), Elias Lukwago, and other political activists, have generated significant public concern & debate among many patriotic Ugandans.
However, in evaluating such matters, we MUST remain objective & principled!
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is an adult individual responsible for his own actions, decisions, and public pronouncements. His conduct should be assessed on its own merits & demerits-not through the lens of family relations, political affiliations or the collective identity of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) or the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF).

History teaches us that institutions endure when individuals are judged fairly and independently. From FRONASA to the NRA and later the UPDF, commanders have emerged with different leadership styles, strengths and weaknesses. It is therefore, neither fair nor intellectually honest to generalize the actions of one commander to an entire institution or generation of leaders!

As a nation, we MUST resist the temptation of collective condemnation & instead embrace the principles of fairness, accountability, and responsible citizenship. "We should criticize where criticism is deserved, commend where credit is due and remain focused on the larger national interests."

"The future of Uganda will not be built on hatred, political polarization or inherited blame. It will be built on truth, justice, accountability, reconciliation and servant leadership."

If we genuinely desire a Uganda that works for all, then we MUST judge individuals by their actions, uphold institutions by their values and unite around our collective national aspirations rather than our political differences. Only then shall we build a nation where leadership is service, power is exercised with humility & patriotism is measured not by what divides us, but by what brings us together.

THE POLITICAL COST OF ARROGANCE & EXCESS.

The events of "24th, July, 2024" remain deeply engraved in the political memory of many Ugandans, particularly the youth who courageously took to the streets to peacefully protest against corruption and extravagance within the 11th Parliament of Uganda. What began as a public outcry against misuse of taxpayers’ money quickly turned into a tense confrontation between citizens and the state.
Several young activists and patriotic voices, including Dr Spire Ssentongo, Agather Atuhaire, Agora and many others, were intimidated, violently arrested, dispersed by security operatives. Instead of addressing the concerns being raised, critics & protesters were branded agents of foreign interests, enemies of progress, and disruptors of national stability.
At the center of public anger was the growing perception of unchecked extravagance and abuse of office by some top leaders in Parliament.

Ugandans openly questioned the source of the enormous wealth being displayed at a time when ordinary citizens were struggling with unemployment, high commodity prices, poor healthcare services and economic hardship.
Public debate intensified after reports and images circulated of luxurious projects associated with the Speaker of Parliament, including a multi-billion residence in the village that hosted Members of Parliament & high-profile dignitaries such as GEN MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA as chief guest!
Questions were also raised regarding the construction of an expensive hospital, a stadium, the acquisition of property in Nakasero, and the continued distribution of large sums of money to Members of Parliament under the guise of service awards and parliamentary facilitation.

To many Ugandans, these actions symbolized a widening gap between the ruling political elite and the ordinary taxpayer. Citizens wondered whether public service had gradually transformed into a platform for personal enrichment rather than national sacrifice.
Equally significant was the political resistance faced by legislators who attempted to challenge the status quo from within Parliament itself. When "Hon, THEODORE SSEKIKUBO" and a few other legislators sought to initiate discussions on corruption and accountability within Parliament, they encountered fierce opposition, political isolation and internal hostility. To some observers, his eventual political struggles became a reflection of how difficult it can be to confront entrenched systems of power.
Yet history repeatedly teaches us enduring lessons; "power is temporary, but accountability is inevitable."
Political authority, when exercised without restraint, humility, or respect for public trust, eventually faces the judgment of time and the people. Leaders may suppress criticism for a season, silence dissenting voices, or intimidate opponents, but public memory remains alive. The frustrations of citizens, especially young people, cannot be permanently ignored.

The current political challenges and public scrutiny surrounding "Hon, Anita Annette Among and Hon, Thomas Tayebwa" should therefore serve as a lesson to all public officials. leadership is not ownership of the state, and public office is not a license for excess!
In politics, arrogance often mistakes silence for acceptance. But eventually, the voices of the people grow louder than the walls of privilege.
A nation survives not because leaders accumulate wealth & influence, but because institutions remain accountable, justice remains impartial, and citizens continue believing that their voices matter. Uganda’s future will not be secured by intimidation or extravagance, but by integrity, humility, patriotism and responsible leadership.

"Time remains the greatest teacher and the most unforgiving judge of power."

A NATION MARCHING FORWARD UNDER TESTED LEADERSHIP.

On Tuesday, 12th, May, 2026, Uganda shall once again stand before history as "H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni" -the Revolutionary Leader, Chairman of the National Resistance Movement & Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces-takes oath for his 7th term in office at the iconic Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
This is not merely a swearing-in ceremony; it is a reaffirmation of Uganda’s revolutionary journey, resilience, stability & continuity of purpose. While some critics and outsiders may struggle to comprehend why Ugandans continue to overwhelmingly entrust President Museveni with the leadership of our nation, the answer lies deeply rooted in our history, our experience, and our aspirations as a people.

Ugandans remember where this country came from, the years of instability, economic collapse, insecurity and state failure. We also see where Uganda stands today;. "A nation enjoying peace across its borders, growing infrastructure, expanding education opportunities, improved healthcare systems, regional influence, economic transformation & political stability.
Under the leadership of the NRM government,"

Uganda has witnessed;.
1, A Massive road and infrastructure development connecting regions and markets.
2, Expansion of electricity and industrialization projects.
3, Growth in universal education and access to higher learning institutions.
4, Improved security and professionalization of national defense forces.
5, Increased regional diplomatic influence and strategic international partnerships.
6, Economic empowerment initiatives targeting youth, women & local communities. "Like a mighty river that refuses to flow backwards, Uganda continues marching forward, cautiously, steadily & strategically."
Nations are not built on experiments, emotions or temporary excitement. They are built on vision, experience, sacrifice & ideological clarity!

As "TEAM YKM MISSION." We therefore, call upon all patriotic Ugandans, NRM members, well-wishers, youth leaders, mobilizers & coordinators, especially those within the Kampala Metropolitan Area-to turn up in large numbers and participate in this historic national occasion.👍🏽✊🏽💪🏽

Let us gather at Kololo not merely as spectators, but as witnesses to another defining chapter in Uganda’s political evolution.
At a time when many nations around the world are battling instability, polarization & uncertainty, Uganda remains a pillar of relative peace, strategic direction and steady progress in the region and on the African continent.

Now more than ever, this is the moment to rally behind our elder statesman, freedom fighter & grandfather of modern Uganda, "H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni," as the country prepares for its "NEXT QUALITATIVE LEAP" in socio-economic transformation while safeguarding the national gains achieved over the decades.

History rewards nations that protect their foundations, patriotism demands that we defend stability. The future calls upon us to move together as one people, one nation & one destiny.

In our cultural heritage, the spear "Icumu" is not merely a weapon; it is a profound symbol of vigilance, courage and the sacred duty is to defend. It represents the readiness of A LEADER to stand firm, to confront adversity, and to protect those entrusted to their care. Equally, the shiel 'Engabo' embodies resilience & guardianship, a barrier against the storms of aggression, whether from arrows, spears, or any force that threatens the well-being of the people!

It is within this rich symbolic tradition that the people of Kazo District have, with deliberate conviction, entrusted these instruments of protection & authority to our servant leader, Chairman ODREK RWABWOGO. This gesture is far more than ceremonial, it is a declaration of confidence, a transfer of responsibility, and a call to "steadfast leadership."

For a leader who walks among the people, who listens, teaches and shares in their daily realities, the `ICUMU & ENGABO` become living symbols. They speak to a leadership that does not retreat, that absorbs pressure, deflects harm, and, when necessary, confronts challenges head-on for the collective good.

In essence, the people have not just handed over symbols, they have affirmed a covenant, one that binds leadership to protection, power to responsibility, and authority to service.

THE SILENT POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE BENEATH UGANDA'S BALLOT.

Uganda stands once again at a moment on the verge of choosing its Speaker & Deputy Speaker of Parliament. Yet beneath the surface of this routine constitutional exercise lies a deeper, more unsettling question;.
`What really happened to Uganda’s political giants?
How did towering figures, seasoned eloquent debaters, ideological architects-fall to candidates once dismissed as political lightweights? Was it an accident, protest, fatigue or something far more profound?`

"This was not merely an election. It was a political earthquake."
"The day the ground shifted." Across the country, familiar names, once synonymous with authority, intellect and parliamentary gravitas were swept aside. Men and women who had mastered the language of policy, who could dismantle arguments with precision, suddenly found themselves outmaneuvered not in debate but at the ballot.
This was not the failure of intelligence.
It was the triumph of sentiment over structure!
The Ugandan voters did not simply vote.
They spoke loudly, emotionally, and decisively.
"The revolt against the ivory tower." For years, our parliament has been home to some of the finest legal & political minds. Yet, to the ordinary voter, intellect alone began to resemble distance. Eloquence started to sound like detachment, experience in some cases, began to feel like permanence without progress!
And so the voter asked, quietly but firmly;
“You speak well but do you feel what we feel?” In that moment, the election ceased to be a contest of ideas.
It became a referendum on connection.
The so-called “minor” candidates were not necessarily more knowledgeable. But they were; more present, more accessible, and more relatable.
They did not speak to the people, they spoke with them...👌🏽👌🏽
"The storm of political waves." At the same time, Uganda witnessed the force of political tides-waves so powerful that they carried with them both hope & disruption.
In some regions, party identity overshadowed individual merit. In others, internal fractures within dominant structures created openings for new actors to emerge. The result was a political battlefield where; loyalty competed with frustration, experience collided with expectation, structure yielded to momentum and momentum, as history often teaches us, is a ruthless force!

When renewal becomes a demand, not a Choice." What unfolded was not random. It was generational, it was psychological, it was inevitable!
A growing segment of the electorate, particularly the youth no longer sees leadership as a lifetime entitlement. They see it as a renewable contract, subject to performance, presence, and relevance.
The message was unmistakable.
“If you do not evolve, you will be replaced not by giants, but by those willing to walk with us.”

`Lessons for the Speakership Race. The 12th house they seek to lead is no longer the same house.` It is younger, more restless, and unpredictable. And above all, it is more representative of a changing national mood.
"The Metaphor of the Moment." Ugandan politics today is like a mighty river after a storm. For years, it flowed in familiar channels-predictable, controlled & guided by known forces. "But now, the waters have risen. The current has shifted. New paths are being carved. And in such a river; even the strongest trees can be uprooted,
even the smallest boats can find their moment."
Uganda is not merely changing leaders, it is redefining leadership itself.

THE FORGE OF NATIONS & THE BRIDGE TO UGANDA'S FUTURE.

"Mentorship remains the most powerful instrument at our disposal to shape the destiny we desire for future generations." Across politics, business, entertainment, agriculture, academia, spirituality and even the military, the need for principled guidance is undeniable. Nations are not built by chance; they are molded by visionary leaders who invest in people. In this regard, `we extend our profound gratitude to Chairman Odrek Rwabwogo for championing a national mentorship agenda that is steadily shaping Uganda’s tomorrow.`

History is our greatest teacher. The sacrifices & struggles of leaders like; Julius Nyerere, Yoweri Museveni, and the continued efforts of Odrek Rwabwogo affirm that we are on the right track toward building a Uganda that works for all. Their journeys remind us that transformation is anchored in ideology, discipline and purpose-driven leadership.

Today, over 70% of Uganda’s population is youthful-ambitious, creative, impatient, yet deeply honest. This demographic reality is both an opportunity & a test of leadership. While many have chosen to stand aside, Chairman *Odrek Rwabwogo* has stepped forward, boldly embracing the responsibility of shaping the minds, character and ideological clarity of this generation. For over two decades, he has been a consistent voice of mentorship, instilling the values of patriotism, collective responsibility, and national consciousness!
It is no surprise, therefore, that many see in him reflections of global icons such as; `Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Samora Machel, Lee Kuan Yew, and Deng Xiaoping.' Leaders who transformed societies through vision, sacrifice and service. *Chairman Rwabwogo* stands as a unique blend of these legacies; a servant leader defined by integrity, humility, peace, and an unwavering commitment to unity beyond tribe, religion or ideology.
As the Runyakitara wisdom reminds us, “Otaijuka tazimura” he who does not remember cannot appreciate or give back. It is in this spirit that we express our heartfelt gratitude to a teacher, mentor, and nation-builder whose work continues to inspire hope and direction.

Chairman Odrek. Mugisha Rwabwogo is not merely leading a program, he is nurturing a movement, cultivating a generation, and laying the foundation for a prosperous Uganda.
