*District Update*
Today, the leadership of Soroti District officially launched the drilling of a borehole in Abyarai Village, Oculoi Sub-county, aimed at improving access to safe and clean water for the local community.
The launch was officiated by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bakak Ronald, in the presence of the District Chairperson, Hon. Edoru Simon Peter Ekuu.
Other key stakeholders in attendance included the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), members of the District Executive Committee (DEC), the Deputy
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Principal Assistant Secretary (PAS), the District Water Officer (DWO), the District Community Development Officer (DCDO), the District Natural Resources Officer (DNRO), sub-county leadership, and community members of Abyarai Village.
According to the District Water Officer, Mr. Oriekot Alex, Soroti District currently has a water coverage rate of 86% in terms of population access.
The Adamasiko water RGC was also commissioned.
*In a related development* , the team also conducted a site monitoring visit and held a meeting at Soroti District Headquarters in Katine to assess the ongoing construction of the new District Administration Block.
This construction project is being undertaken by the UPDF Engineers Brigade under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Soroti District and the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.
The team expressed satisfaction with the progress of the works, which are currently estimated at 25% completion.
