Bethia VFD

Mt. Carmel- Just before 4 PM, Bethia VFD (Station 14), Station 10 (Troy), Station 80 (Sandy Branch), McCormick Engine 122, Sharon Fire and Rescue (Station 1) responded to a structure fire in the 1900 block of Mars Bridge Rd. Our members helped with offensive operations and other duties. 2 structures and farm equipment were involved. The fire also spread into the nearby woods and approximately 3 acres burned. State and Federal forestry units assisted in extinguishing the woods fire.

Sharon Fire Rescue and Bethia VFD had a MVA with entrapment in the 4000 block on Cedar Springs South at 6:53AM and a Landing Zone at the Abbeville hospital at 4:46 PM.

WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN -
🚒 Big Upgrade for Abbeville County Fire Service! 🚒

We are excited to welcome a "new-to-us" Air & Light Unit to our fleet, acquired from our brothers and sisters at the Whitewater Township Fire Department in Michigan!

What does this mean for our firefighters on scene?

* Breathe Easy: This specialized unit carries a high-pressure compressor to refill SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) cylinders right on the fireground. No more waiting or running low during major, extended incidents—our crews can swap them quickly and keep working safely along with refilling on scene.

* Light Up the Night: It features powerful, high-intensity floodlights to illuminate large emergency scenes, drastically improving visibility and safety during nighttime rescues and structure fires.

We wish to thank Abbeville County Council and Administration for supporting this capital project.

A huge thank you to Whitewater Township Fire Department for making this acquisition possible.

And lastly, thank you to our dedicated volunteers - Andrew Robison (Cold Spring), Tyler Knowlton (Long Cane) & Daniel Doolittle (Headquarters) - for taking time from work and family to make this 30+ hour round trip to bring this apparatus back home!

Local tie in - Clay Cooper is from Abbeville County and now lives nearby, serving with Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He came over to meet our folks and is excited to see this apparatus going back home with us!

If you are an officer within your fire department and can vote for the South Carolina State Firefighters Association officers we highly recommend Jeremy Bass for the 2nd Vice Chair of the Officer Section.

JT Bass is currently the Abbeville County Fire Service Coordinator. He has served the state of SC in many capacities within other departments prior to retiring from Louisville Ky Fire Department as a Captain. JT is a highly engaged and enthusiastic leader for Abbeville County. He will serve the 2nd Vice Chair Office with the upmost dignity and integrity and advocate for every department in the State of SC.

It was a busy day. We had a great time this morning training with our new extrication equipment then we were toned out this afternoon for a mutual aid call for a structure fire in Parksville SC.

When you can provide a community service and train it makes it even better.

We performed a water shuttle and wet the horse arena at The Governor’s School of Agriculture at John Delahowe this evening.
