Aberdeen Township Hose & Chemical # 1 Station 63-1 Providing Aberdeen residents and visitors with the best possible protection with ongoing training and modern firefighting equipment
(6)

In the fall of 1918, citizens of Oak Shades, a section of the township got together to discuss fire protection. On Tuesday, December 3rd, the Oak Shades Fire Company was organized. In 1977, the voters of Matawan Township voted to change the township's name to Aberdeen Township. As a result, the fire company changed its name to Aberdeen Township Hose & Chemical Company No. 1 Inc., reflecting the new name of the township. Today in its 97th consecutive year of service, a membership of more than forty volunteers fire fighters stands ready, day and night to serve the citizens of Aberdeen Township, and looks forward to celebrating 100 years of service in 2018.

A Statement from the Monmouth County Law Enforcement Community

“I can’t breathe.” The words of George Floyd’s unheeded pleas for help with a police officer’s knee on his neck and his subsequent death are seared into the consciousness of the world. To Mr. Floyd’s family - we are heartbroken and mourn his death and the unimaginable suffering his loved ones are experiencing. We expect that the officers involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as the video capturing his death is indefensible.

For the members of our law enforcement community, the horror of this tragedy is magnified by the stain we all wear because of the sins of those officers who do not reflect our morals and values. I, along with Sheriff Shaun Golden and the entire Monmouth County Chiefs of Police Association, condemn the murder of Mr. Floyd. While we work tirelessly to earn the trust of the citizens we serve, we recognize these efforts are clouded by the horrible image of Mr. Floyd’s pleas for help – pleas made to those who take an oath to help not harm citizens. We wholly denounce the senseless murder of citizens we are sworn to protect, and the trampling of the inalienable human rights we are charged to uphold.

The entire Monmouth County law enforcement community continues our public outreach efforts to keep building the foundation of trust necessary for law enforcement to maintain the confidence of who we work for – the citizens of Monmouth County. Our mission is to protect and serve you. A cornerstone of this mission is listening to our community partners and engaging in proactive dialogue.

We are fortunate to have strong relationships with our faith-based and community leaders in good times so we can work together toward a common goal in challenging times. This week, we are meeting with these community stakeholders to continue our ongoing conversation about the tragic death of Mr. Floyd, and to further discuss how law enforcement can be part of the solution.

The role of a firefighter in today’s society – be it urban, rural, natural environment, volunteer, career, industrial, defence force, aviation, motor sport, or other is one of dedication, commitment and sacrifice – no matter what country we reside and work in. In the fire service we fight together against one common enemy – fire – no matter what country we come from, what uniform we wear or what language we speak. –Lt JJ Edmondson, 1999

Dear Aberdeen community.

It was a blessing to see everyone smiling today on our Easter run. I got to say that other members and myself noticed people waving with tears in their eyes. It was heart warming! I must say we are blessed with a great community and never the less to mention our Easter run was worth every second of it. I also want to thank every each one of you on behalf of the fire company and fire District #1 for supporting the Aberdeen fire company #1 throughout the years.
Let’s keep our community safe.

Thanks Tesla

For all firefighters out there, every Tesla in the front trunk has a red cable tagged with a firefighter helmet, cutting this cable disconnects all the high voltage lines in the vehicle, and renders it motionless. I asked about the solar roof too, and it’s expected a similar disconnect will be implemented that in some way reduced risk of electrocution, a rep is getting back to me. Always good to see companies backing first responders, every electric vehicle should have this!
