FSP 30-Day Fitness Challenge
The Forever Sober Program (FSP) focuses on the creating, improving and maintaining three forms of sobriety in the participating men: sober mind, sober body, and sober spirit. Thirteen men assisted in creating and completed the first sober body physical fitness challenge. “The fire 50” challenge required that each participating man preformed (50) burpees, (50) pull ups, and a three-minute plank every day for thirty days, all in front of a witness. The program improved each man’s sober body through physical fitness, each man’s sober mind through discipline, integrity and accountability, while also improving each man’s sober spirit through the personal recognition of success in a grueling daily challenge. The phenomenal success of this pilot challenge has set the precedent for future programs created by the men of the Forever Sober Program, such as the next fitness challenge “The Stairway to Heaven”, our hats are off to the men who say, “The next step is never enough”.
FSP Sobriety Milestone
The Forever Sober Program recognizes the 23 men who have reached a major milestone in their personal recovery: six months of sobriety. These 23 men are the first cohort of candidates who admitted to suffering from substance abuse issues and have proven that sobriety is an accomplishable goal. While living in the therapeutic wing, these men passed regularly issued UA’s. To help maintain their sobriety, these men spend the majority of their days with their assigned sponsors and have proven to be 100% accountable to their dream of no longer being controlled by substance abuse. These men have risen above expectations and fully participated in the daily educational schedule of the program. In addition, this group contributes to the living areas cleanliness and assists in a wide range of positive and productive programs across the unit. This major milestone would not have been realized without the dedication of Robertson’s Administration to fostering and maintaining the opportunities provided through the FSP. This major milestone proves that “It takes all us” is not just an important Robertson Unit maxim, but a lifestyle these men have claimed as their own.
