I have been working in the field of education for twenty-three years as a teacher and an instructional coach. To me, there is nothing more important than supporting our young people, guiding them to become everything they can and wish to be. In addition, I am mom to two fantastic boys who are currently in elementary and middle school in Abington. I moved to Abington 10 years ago with my husband, and we’ve loved living in this diverse, tight-knit community. As an educator and a mom, I am running for School Board Director because I have seen the positive ways that Abington has grown since my children started school here, and I want to help Abington School District to continue to grow in the areas of equity, inclusion and safety for all kids. Serving my community in this capacity is incredibly important to me. Melissa Mowry
I’m a professor, an author, the proud mom of two thriving ASD graduates, a nineteen-year resident of Abington Township, and current School Board Vice-President. I’ve spent my career teaching students who are often the first in their families to pursue higher education and have seen first-hand the remarkable ways that education can transforms lives. I’ve also seen the struggles that some of my students experience who have lacked the robust and rigorous education our students enjoy. I’m running to continue the work I started four years ago to support Abington School District’s commitment to EXCELLENCE and EQUITY, by ensuring that ALL students are well-prepared for the possibilities of higher education and any other opportunities they might choose to pursue. Cathy Spaulding

Since retirement, I have served as the national treasurer for a non-profit family foundation as well as a for-profit family entity. I’m known throughout Ward 5 walking my dogs, and my neighbors value my home as being dog and kid friendly.
