Every year I like to put together a top 10 guide for Dahlia tubers specifically. There are so many varieties out there and they vary widely in appearance but also performance! Here are my 2026 picks for the best cutting varieties we have to offer. All of these varieties are available in our tuber store :)
1. My Forever
Truly beautiful! Waterlily varieties have gotten a lot of attention lately but not this one yet. It's a gorgeous color and productive plant!
2. Ferncliff Copper
A classic, and always in my top list because it's so reliable, and a great color for fall.
3. Blizzard
She may not be the most exciting, shiny, new thing on the block, but Blizzard is hands down the most productive white dahlia we've ever grown and we will continue to grow her!
4. Sugar Daddy
This one replaced golden scepter for us. Sugar daddy is a productive bloomer with a great golden yellow color, and flowers are held upward facing on strong stems.
5. Terracotta
Terracotta makes huge vigorous plants and whimsical flowers! Give it space and support for all those limbs.
6. Cafe Au Lait Mini
This one is replacing the classic Cafe Au Lait for us! I like the size of the mini version better for bouquets, and the buff color is more stable.
7. Rose Toscano
This little cutie is one I love to have around for fall bridal bouquets. Dahlias can be chunky in a bridal bouquet, but Rose Toscano is super cute and always fits in!
8. Summer Rain
Okay, so this one's not actually a proven cutter yet but it was on my unicorn list for years so it's on this list now that we have it ;)
9. Totally Tangerine
A pick for all the container garden folks out there! Totally. Tangerine is adorable and makes a small enough plant to fit in a pot on your patio.
10. Clearview Peachy
Clearview Peachy makes the list on the merit of its color alone. That soft peach coloring is rare and lovely.
Happy growing! And happy shopping if you go to look for these on our website ποΈ
