Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails was awarded a grant from Verizon in support of our STEM from Girls Initiative. Through Verizon’s generous contribution our STEM program will be expanding to provide more workshops in regions including Gallup, Clovis, Farmington, and Santa Fe. We will also be returning to the locations we visited during our My 3 Sisters program including Laguna/Acoma and Zuni. Verizon sponsored programs will focus on empowering girls to join together to explore the basics of technology and electronics through makerspace activities. Girls will learn about electricity and how to create simple circuits while building their own light up pop up card and experimenting with electronic kits. Don’t miss our first Verizon event, STEM Sisters on May 31st in Laguna/Acoma at the K’awaika Center from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. All girls ages 7 and up are welcome, but you must be registered to attend.
