Also to increase awareness of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse on the family, and social systems. The Prevention Team develops community relationships that demonstrate a sustained and caring presence thus building trust and increasing community participation; creating activities that are both educational and interesting while reinforcing the foundation beliefs and traditions within the community. The program recognizes that alcohol/substance abuse and dependence, compulsive gambling, and mental health issues affect all aspects of life. The program supports strengthening individuals, families, and community resilience through connection to traditions and culture. The Pueblo of Acoma Behavioral Health Services Program strives to nurture healthy lifestyles for all generations.
