Congratulations to the 2026 Chickasaw Nation Dynamic Woman of the Year, Kayla Robinson, Ph.D. Her hard work and commitment to community have distinguished her as a visionary leader and outstanding example of the strength, character and values of the Chickasaw people.

The Dynamic Woman of the Year Award honors the leadership of Chickasaw women and recognizes their achievements and positive impact on their communities. We appreciate Kayla for her determined spirit and for inspiring others through her example.

We celebrated another ribbon cutting today in Tishomingo, the historic capital of the Chickasaw Nation. With the opening of the Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center, we commemorate another important addition to the Tishomingo community and our tribe’s ability to serve children and families in the area.

The growth and education of our youth is vital to the future of our tribe and communities, and we understand the influence positive early childhood experiences can have on a child’s future success. This month, the Holisso: The Center for Study of Chickasaw History and Culture celebrates 15 years of preserving and sharing the history, culture and stories of the Chickasaw people with visitors from around the world.

Meaning “book” in the Chickasaw language, Holisso is a specialty library and research center located at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur, focusing on the study of the Chickasaw Nation and other tribes in the Southeastern United States.

The research center also maintains records of Chickasaw, Cherokee, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek) and Seminole tribal genealogy, offering personal assistance with ancestry research, as well as hosting a variety of educational and cultural events, including oral history workshops, scholarly lectures, conferences and more.

As we congratulate the Holisso: The Center for Study of Chickasaw History and Culture on 15 outstanding years of service, we welcome everyone to visit and experience what it has to offer.

We wish each participant of the Chickasaw Nation Internship Program the best as they gain valuable, real-world experience in a variety of professional fields this summer.

For more than two decades, the internship program has provided hundreds of college-aged Chickasaw students with opportunities to prepare for career success through hands-on experience and training with local, state and national organizations and partnering businesses.

Today, the Chickasaw Nation celebrated another exciting milestone in our ability to serve children and families in the Purcell area, with the ribbon cutting of a new Chickasaw Nation Child Development Center (CDC).

Knowing the positive impact a healthy learning environment makes in the lives of young children, we continue to invest in early childhood education. Since 2002, Chickasaw Nation CDCs have provided hundreds of children with a nurturing environment focused on overall growth and development, including health, cultural connection and more.

With the new Purcell CDC, we are excited to offer even more children the support, resources and opportunities to develop a strong foundation that will continue to benefit them throughout their lives. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

On this day, in 1736, Chickasaws repelled a French attack on their fortified village of Aahíkkiꞌyaꞌ (Ackia) in present-day Tupelo, Mississippi. Known as the Battle of Aahíkkiꞌyaꞌ (Ackia), this pivotal event impacted world history and once again demonstrated the unconquerable warrior spirit of the Chickasaw people.

By deterring French territorial advancement in the Southeast, the Battle of Aahíkkiꞌyaꞌ was significant in determining both U.S. and world history. By successfully defending Aahíkkiꞌyaꞌ, the resilience and strategic planning of Chickasaws helped shape the course of events leading to the establishment of the United States of America.

Today, in recognition of Memorial Day, we remember and honor the service and sacrifice of our military members who have perished while serving in the U.S. armed forces. We give our deepest respect and appreciation to our fallen warriors.

Throughout history, Chickasaws have bravely fought in every branch of the U.S. military to defend our country and freedoms. Just as they carry on our proud warrior tradition, our tribe remains committed to supporting and honoring those who fight on our behalf.

The virtual Chickasaw Veterans Wall is one of the many ways we recognize and pay tribute to Chickasaw military service members. Today, in 1978, the Chickasaw Nation began operating Chickasaw Enterprises. It was among our early efforts to diversify our business interests, with a goal to build a strong and sustainable economic foundation that would generate revenue to fund vital programs and services for citizens and support tribal operations.

In the decades since establishing Chickasaw Enterprises, the Chickasaw Nation has grown to operate more than 100 diverse businesses, which support our tribe’s ability to provide now nearly 400 programs and services.

Today, the Chickasaw Nation’s strategic planning, entrepreneurial spirit and economic development efforts remain focused on how we can best fulfill our mission to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people, while strengthening our local economies.
