A local family nominated him for his profound compassion and extraordinary care during one of their darkest days.

Stay weather aware, Dallas County! Heavy rain and storms will be moving into our area, with a Flood Watch in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, until 1 a.m. Friday, October 2.

Congratulations, Lt. Behnken!

Big congratulations to Lt. Brent Behnken on graduating from the FBI National Academy!

This is a big deal. Only about 1% of law enforcement officers are selected to attend the National Academy, and Brent is only the third Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputy ever to have that opportunity.

It’s a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of Brent’s leadership, dedication and commitment to the profession.

We’re proud of you, Brent. Now get back to work! 😉

Celebrate the outdoors and 250 years of American history with the American Discovery 250 Relay - a 6,800-mile relay from California to Delaware carrying a copy of the Declaration of Independence from coast to coast.

Monday and Tuesday, September 28-29, 2026, the relay will traverse along the Raccoon River Valley Trail from Audubon to Adel and on to Des Moines. Join the celebration by participating for a day or more in a relay, attending some of the locally-hosted events, or sharing your story of personal growth and adventure.
