After months of anticipation, it's time to celebrate - the bridge is back!🤩👏

On Friday, August 21st, join the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association (RRVTA), Dallas County Conservation, and Adel Partners as we celebrate the reopening of the lighted trail bridge in Adel with a fun bike ride🌉🚲

Riders will enjoy a leisurely ride along the Raccoon River Valley Trail to Adel, where we'll gather for a 6:00 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the reopening of this important trail connection. Following the ceremony, riders are welcome to enjoy downtown Adel's restaurants, shops, and hospitality before returning to Waukee at their own pace.

This is a FREE event, but we ask everyone to register in advance so we can plan. We hope to see you there!

Starting on Wednesday, July 29, Sportsmans Club Road will be closed a quarter mile south of 270th Street for a culvert replacement project. The road is planned to reopen by 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, weather permitting, following work completion.

☀️ COOLING CENTERS ACTIVATED ☀️

With heat index values expected to exceed 100°F, cooling centers throughout Dallas County will be activated beginning Saturday, July 25. They will remain activated until the heat index falls below 95°F.

Stay cool, drink plenty of water, and check on family members, friends, and neighbors, especially those who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

Dallas County recently welcomed Aaron Young as its public information officer/marketing coordinator, a new role that leads the development and ex*****on of the County’s communications and marketing strategies.

Aaron brings more than a decade of combined experience in journalism, communications, public relations and content strategy, most recently serving as communications manager for the City of Indianola, Iowa. He started his position with Dallas County on July 14.

“Aaron brings a proven track record of communications excellence and strategic marketing to Dallas County,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Julia Helm. “He is a dynamic communicator with a clear history of driving results. His expertise and forward-thinking vision will be vital as we elevate our storytelling and deepen our commitment to those we serve.”

Heads up! Starting Monday, July 27, Old Portland Road in Adel will be closed to through traffic from Bradfield Street to south of River Ridge Road for a grading and paving project. The road is planned to reopen by 5 p.m. Friday, August 28, weather permitting, following work completion.

The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), in partnership with 20+ cities and counties, is applying to receive federal grant funding to replace the existing steel multi-plate arch, in poor condition, on 365th St west of Knox Ave. with a new reinforced concrete box culvert. We need your help by completing a brief survey! Your answers will be used to support the grant application. This online survey will take less than five minutes to complete.
