Not with physical or violent ways, but of the Mind and Soul. I am here to support the democrat party. Thomas Hilgart and I have formed an exploratory committee for the Michigan 7th US District of Congress. You do not recognize my name and for the time being that is ok. It will not remain this way long and I am working on changing this fact as we speak. As you know it is not easy gaining a foothold
in politics without having a recognizable name or political ties. Seems of late, we are seeing political family dynasties in America now. The only way to establish my name will be a strong grass roots movement, brilliant marketing strategies, the backing of your committee and of course luck. I will be putting forth all of my energies, resources and efforts into this. I know this will not be easy and it can break down a person in ways unimaginable. As a friend told me, it takes 3 people to talk you into running for office and 30,000 to talk you out of it. A little background on me, I am a mechanical engineer by education with an emphasis on energy. Not oil or petroleum energy but the practice of reducing our demand and thus reducing energy through performance contracting and renewable energies. I stated “educated in engineering”, however I am also a music executive. After working 5 years as an Energy
Engineer I founded a media music company, named Random Records America. While working in the music business I learned how to navigate the sharks, surround myself with the right people, and stay true to myself by my beliefs and ethics. After successfully running my media company for 10 years, I returned to my education and original career choice as an Energy Engineer, which in turn brought me to Michigan in 2010. In the past 3 years I have been working with the Michigan Energy Initiative, part of the Clinton Initiative to help reduce energy consumption all over the state. From Coldwater School District, Warren Waste Water Treatment Plant to Dearborn Schools, the DTE Headquarters office building, Western Michigan University, Northern Michigan University and many other facilities in healthcare, education and municipal properties, I have personally engineered and managed millions of dollars in reduced energy costs. I firmly believe reducing energy consumption rather than producing more. I was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin in May, 1970. I grew up in a district much like the 7th District of Michigan. My home district had a great leader for over 22 years. Honorable Dave Obey (D) worked his district as if it was his own family. I learned much from Rep Obey and have studied his actions, legislation and watched as he successfully held a seat within a predominantly Republican population. I now live in Adrian (Lenawee County) and plan on being here for some time. As you can tell, I am not much different than many of you. As a proud father of four, I have high expectations for my family. I will stop at nothing to better a future for all children and to allow them to have a chance at the American dream. Watching the district closely for the past few years I have noticed this district is a swing district. However, it is a district which needs strong leadership and someone unafraid of veteran politicians, Big Banks, Oil Companies and the overpaid CEO’s with special interest groups. We need someone who will become known as a “bull’ or an aggressive representative. This district does not want someone who pretends to be someone he is not. I cannot accept absentee land-lords such as current Congressman Wahlberg. He votes to his party lines without the true regard of what his constituents need and we simply cannot and will not allow another cycle of government to push us further back. If I choose to run and receive the support from my fellow party, win the primary, I will hit Congressman Wahlberg head to head in the likes in which he has never seen before. We will not back down and we will return the seat to the Democrat Party back where it belongs. An important lessoned I learned and mastered working in the music business; it’s how to promote and raise money. If I can promote and finance an unknown band to multiple gold records, I feel I can get this off the ground successfully. I have some valuable resources and people who do this very thing. Not to mention the cutting edge knowledge of online marketing techniques and coverage. This includes both public and private entities along with the press and all outlets. A trusted advisor cautiously informed me it will be difficult to walk into a district where
many people have made a life time commitment to the district and party, see me walk in, with
pockets turned out. He put it this way, “you don’t walk up to the first girl you see and ask her to
marry you”. I must court my fellow colleagues and party members and earn your trust and respect. I must be the best candidate in your eyes and of course everyone wants to get behind a
winning horse, so to speak. I will be hosting coffee clutches, lecture functions and dinners

Our mission will be simple, see my face, and hear my name, know the man. I don’t know about you, but I am tired of picking up every paper or reading online news magazines slamming Michigan, Worst city to live……most depressed state…..highest violent crime……and so on and so on. I shall aim to change this. The Governor claimed he would do this in his first term, but has severely failed. I doubt he has the slightest idea on how to turn Michigan around. I know people are proud to be from here. People who made this state great by working hard and sweat and not afraid to roll up their sleeves, generation after generation. People from so many different cultures and nationalities founded and modernized this state, they grow the cherries, they farm the land, build the automobiles and they produce the sounds of Motown. The waters are churning a bit more than usual now, however. With the announcement of Senator Levin retiring, I am already being told, the GOP will stop at nothing to gain that senate seat. This means the Republican Party will be launching a massive campaign effort in Michigan along with doing whatever it takes to keep their current seats in Congress, Governor and State Assembly and Senate as well. A flood of money will be swept in from the GOP and it will directly affect our efforts and may at times strain our financial funding and forecasting. I have four fronts to maintain during this battle
1) Name Recognition,
2) Removing an incumbent,
3) Up against the massive ground troops of the GOP and finical aid,
4) Getting our fellow democrats to the voting booths. Some of these can be won with simple tactics and honest approaches; others will take some intuition and calculated strategies. Once we begin to receive our momentum, we must never take our foot off the throat of the opponent. Not for one minute. If I decide to announce my candidacy, I will not be coming here to LOSE! Join my committee and help others receive my message. It is up to you how far I can go. During this exploratory time, we are depending on the backing of you.
