🚨 Agawam Call To Action 🚨
On Monday, June 15th at 7PM the Agawam Town Council will be voting on a Town Resolution in support of Voter ID Laws which we all know lead to voter suppression! While this resolution does not enact a voter ID law, it does tell the state and the U.S. that Agawam is in support of this type of insidious legislation. Arrive early - 6:30PM - to get your name on the Citizens Speak list.
We need your support by showing up for this meeting and speaking out about how these are ineffective laws, is partisan politics at its worst and has no place in our town government.
We are asking you to take a stance against Town Resolution T.R. 2026-039, "A resolution in support of voter identification requirements to protect election integrity and public confidence."
Please tell the resolution Sponsors - Bitzas and Mercandante and Co-Sponsors - Borgatti, Calabrese, McNair and Suffriti that you do NOT support this resolution and the partisan politics that it represents! Remember that in February 2026, Councilor Bitzas, who is one of the two (2) main sponsors of this resolution, was the same one who criticized other communities as being made up of "extreme radical left liberals" and stated he wanted Agawam to remain a very conservative town in his discussion of a different proposed ordinance at that time. He also went on to deny saying what was recorded and what we all heard him say!
Voter ID laws, per the League of Women Voters, have long been debated in the United States. While supporters argue that voter photo ID laws are necessary to prevent voter fraud and ensure the integrity of elections, reality tells a different story. Not only do these measures disproportionately impact Black, Native American, elderly, and student voters, but they also fail to effectively address any real issues related to election integrity.
Let's show up in numbers that can't be ignored and let the Agawam Town Council know that we are NOT in support of T.R. 2026-039!!
