Our City Council voted unanimously to transfer land for HomeAid Los Angeles and Williams Homes to build a resource center and 4 affordable housing units.
Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley is excited to partner with HomeAid Los Angeles and Williams Homes.
A note from Lifescapes' President Julie Brinkerhoff-Jacobs:
First, I want to thank HomeAid for this great recognition (I was so surprised when I visited HomeAid America’s site and discovered it)! It has always been my honor to serve as a passionate supporter of HomeAid. I must also acknowledge some special folks- Scott Larson, Gina Scott, Mike Lennon, Darrell Hoover, Bert Selva, Larry Webb, Donna Hahn, and so many others who are committed to HomeAid’s mission. I am only one person of a group of committed board members and volunteers who have devoted themselves to helping end homelessness across our great country, from Hawaii to Florida!
I want to also thank my Lifescapes family for supporting me for over 30 years of my commitment to HomeAid and its efforts through volunteering and supporting Lifescapes International’s annual fundraising campaign drive. Thanks also to all our clients, friends and consultants for donating generously to HomeAid America when they receive our annual appeal request.
HomeAid currently has 20 chapters nationwide, which, to date, have helped 384,000 people return to lives of self sufficiency. We have also collaborated in partnership with hundreds of care providers building over 984 shelters nationwide. We have 70 more currently in design and/or under construction. With this Covid-19 pandemic, homelessness, domestic violence and child abuse numbers unfortunately are on the rise. We need these facilities more than ever!
Please, go online to Homeaid.org and make a donation to help us continue to build much needed safe shelters for at risk youth, veterans and their families, victims of domestic violence and families in need of shelter. To help measure the effectiveness of this email, please mention Lifescapes International or my name when you visit the homeaid.org website. Please, help us keep the good work of HomeAid America. It is my hope that you give whatever you can, become a volunteer at a local HomeAid chapter (check the HomeAid website to locate a chapter near you) or become a corporate sponsor and engage your employees in group support of HomeAid’s mission. This afternoon, our Field Deputy Luis González joined National Health Foundation in expanding recuperative care services for our homeless neighbors in need of support once they are discharged from hospitals.
After piloting one of the city’s first recuperative care programs a decade ago, NHF will break ground on a new facility in the neighborhood of Central Los Angeles. In partnership with HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura and Etco Homes, NHF will renovate a 100-year-old vacant sanitarium into a healing, trauma-informed recuperative care program, expanding its total service capacity from 52 to 100 beds. The center is set to open this fall.
Thank you to Michael Foley from HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura for speaking today to our members.
We are GROWING! Our Pathway Recuperative Care program is expanding into Pico Union. Together with our partners HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura and etco Homes, we will be delivering much needed resources to this community. Join us for the groundbreaking!
