On 8 July 1991, SOCPAC assumed operational control of what is now known as Naval Special Warfare Unit One, located at Apra Harbor Naval Station, Guam.

West Coast-based Naval Special Warfare operators navigate through the forest during jungle warfare training at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, as part of Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2026.

RIMPAC 2026 brings together 30 nations, 30 ships, five submarines, 15 national land forces, more than 190 aircraft, and over 30,000 personnel for the world's largest international maritime exercise. Conducted in and around the Hawaiian Islands from June 24 to July 31, the exercise strengthens interoperability, enhances readiness, and reinforces the partnerships that help ensure the security of sea lanes and the world's oceans.

Now in its 30th iteration since beginning in 1971, RIMPAC continues to provide unparalleled opportunities for participating forces to train together in realistic, challenging environments.
