Staff Spotlight ⭐️

Meet Mackenzie!

Mackenzie has been with Thrive for over 4 years! She is an incredible support to our BCBA’s, technicians, and our clients. She is someone the technicians can consistently turn to for guidance, support, and reassurance. Her strong knowledge of our clients and their individual needs makes her a valuable resource to the entire team. This allows her to help problem-solve situations while also taking some of the stress and pressure off of the BCBAs.

One of Mackenzie’s greatest strengths is her patience. She gives clients the time and opportunity they need to respond before stepping in, which promotes autonomy, independence, and confidence.

Mackenzie is also exceptionally receptive to feedback. She is not afraid to ask, “Am I doing this right?” and genuinely wants to know how she can improve. When given feedback, she listens, applies it, and makes the necessary changes. Her willingness to learn and continuously improve is something that makes her such a strong technician and teammate.

Beyond her clinical strengths, Mackenzie is simply a joy to be around. She brings a positive energy to the clinic and has a way of making the workday more enjoyable for everyone around her. She is also well known for her friendly talent of “stirring the pot”—but thankfully, it is always in good fun and adds plenty of laughs to the day!

Mackenzie is a true asset to our team. Her patience, knowledge, dependability, openness to feedback, and willingness to support both staff and clients make such a positive impact on our clinic. We are incredibly lucky to have Kenzie on our team, and we truly appreciate everything she brings to it!

Mackenzie stated:

“Working in ABA is extraordinarily rewarding. The best part of being a behavior tech? Watching clients build independence and celebrating every single small win along the way. 🧩✨
From daily living skills like using a spoon, brushing teeth, and doing laundry to communication, sharing, and appropriate play with peers and toys, real progress doesn't happen overnight. It’s the steady, incremental wins over weeks and months that add up to life-changing growth. Small steps lead to big victories!”💡💙

🌟Staff Spotlight🌟

MEET CASSIE!!

Cassie has been an important part of the Thrive family since starting as a Behavior Technician 2.5 years ago! Over the years, she has grown into a trusted support person for both our clients and staff. Whether she's helping technicians navigate challenging behaviors, stepping in to provide guidance, or lending a helping hand wherever it's needed, Cassie is always there with a positive attitude and a wealth of knowledge. She knows our clients incredibly well and is deeply committed to helping each one reach their goals. Her dedication, reliability, and passion for ABA shine through in everything she does. We are so thankful for the care, leadership, and heart she brings to our team every day. Cassie also has a passion and gift for working with our kiddos here at Thrive using ASL to communicate. We love our Cass!

Cassie stated:

There is a unique kind of magic in being a behavior technician. The heart of the job lies in the deep, rewarding connections you build. Nothing quite compares to the rush of witnessing the "lightbulb moment" when a skill finally clicks. Perhaps the most profound impact, however, is being the bridge to their voice. Whether you are facilitating vocal speech, ASL signs, guiding then through PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), or navigating an AAC device, you are literally giving them the tools to be heard. Seeing a child transition from frustration to the empowerment of functional communication is an incredible privilege that makes every challenging day worth it.

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Justine, Lead Behavior Technician 🌟

We’re excited to highlight our incredible Lead Behavior Technician, Justine!

Justine became a Registered Behavior Technician in September 2021 and has been an essential part of our center’s success for 4 years! She truly is the glue that holds everything together. From training new staff and providing ongoing behavior support to stepping in wherever she’s needed most, Justine consistently goes above and beyond.

Not only is she highly skilled in her clinical role, but she’s also our go-to problem solver. Whether it’s fixing something around the center or troubleshooting tech issues, Justine’s handy and tech-savvy skills keep everything running smoothly. On top of that, she brings creativity into her work by making engaging, thoughtful materials for our clients.

Justine also excels in communication, building strong, positive relationships with parents and caregivers. Her flexibility and dedication shine through in her scheduling efforts—she works hard to ensure that staff needs are balanced while making sure every child continues to receive consistent, high-quality services.

We are so grateful to have Justine on our team. Her dedication, creativity, and heart make a lasting impact every single day!

Justine stated, "There is a unique, profound joy in being a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) that stems from witnessing the exact moment a child finds their voice. You aren't just implementing behavior plans; you are a primary architect of their independence. By breaking down complex life skills into achievable wins, you help bridge the gap between frustration and clarity. Whether it’s teaching a child to use a communication device, master a self-care routine, or simply express a need without distress, every small milestone feels like a massive victory. Knowing that your dedication directly equips a child with the tools to navigate the world on their own terms makes this work more than just a job—it’s a rewarding journey of empowerment.”

🌟STAFF SPOTLIGHT!🌟

Brooke Strawn, M.S., BCBA, LBA
Clinical Supervisor

Brooke earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Central Michigan University in May 2022 and her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Wayne State University in May 2024.

Brooke started with Thrive July 2, 2024 as a QBHP, supervising clients at the clinic. She took on her roll headfirst, getting to know the kiddos and families of Thrive. Brooke then passed her BCBA exam on May 25, 2025. We are so proud of Brooke and how much she cares about the children and young adults that she serves.

She has a special place in her heart for working with the littles. Brooke loves being part of those early moments — first words, new skills, growing confidence — and watching her learners blossom over time. There is nothing better than seeing hard work turn into proud smiles and big milestones.

Brooke, we are truly blessed by your presence, energy, and love you put into the work that you do with our kiddos and staff. She is a true leader and passionate about the work she does!
