¿Por qué votar sí a la Z?

Durante décadas, los códigos de zonificación excluyentes y miopes del Artículo 26 de la Carta de la Ciudad (“City Charter Article 26”) han pisoteado nuestra capacidad para hacer que las viviendas sean más asequibles, accesibles e inclusivas.

El Artículo 26, comúnmente conocido como Medida A (“Measure A”), obliga a las personas que trabajan en los negocios locales de Alameda a viajar diariamente a nuestra Ciudad, en lugar de vivir como vecinos, colegas y amigos.

Hay muchas razones para votar SÍ a la Z. Aquí hay cinco:

Sí a la Z ayudará a la Ciudad de Alameda a abordar la crisis de asequibilidad de la vivienda.
Bajo nuestra ley de zonificación de exclusión existente, la Ciudad de Alameda es incapaz de lograr nuestros objetivos de vivienda asequible. Sí a la Z le da al Concejo Municipal la capacidad de apoyar viviendas más asequibles.

Sí a la Z ayudará a la Ciudad de Alameda a levantarse en apoyo a la justicia racial.
El artículo 26 es una reliquia del uso de la tierra ra***ta y las políticas de vivienda discriminatorias que han negado el sueño de la propiedad de vivienda a familias que merecían algo mejor de nuestra Ciudad. 2020 es el año en que votamos por la inclusión.

Sí a la Z demostrará liderazgo climático en la ciudad de Alameda.
La vivienda cerca del tránsito, accesible a los corredores comerciales, ayuda a las personas a vivir, trabajar y relajarse en nuestra Ciudad, ayudando a las personas a conducir menos mientras apoya a nuestras pequeñas empresas locales. SÍ a la Z lo hace posible.

SÍ a la Z es necesario para que la Ciudad de Alameda cumpla con la ley estatal.
La ley estatal requiere que nuestra ciudad cumpla con los puntos de referencia de vivienda regionales obligatorios, especialmente asequibles. El artículo 26 será eventualmente disputado en los tribunales si no se revoca, a expensas de los contribuyentes.

SÍ a la Z NO afectará la arquitectura histórica de la Ciudad de Alameda ni aumentará los impuestos.
Viviendas existentes, incluyendo nuestras muchas hermosas victorianas, no serán afectadas por el SÍ a la Z. Mientras la derogación del Artículo 26 podría generar nuevos ingresos para nuestra Ciudad, de ninguna manera es un nuevo impuesto o tarifa.

為何要投票讚成 Z？

The San Francisco Chronicle endorses Yes on Z!

They write: "Ever so predictably, the No on Z mailers are filled with scare tactics about runaway growth, traffic quagmires, threats to neighborhoods’ quality of life and demolition of historic homes. In truth, Alameda has had a rigid historic preservation law for four decades and any project would need to go through environmental review and a decidedly strict city planning process. ...

Alameda has an opportunity to be a positive example for a region struggling with a housing crisis. Its citizens should close the chapter on an exclusionary era and vote yes on Measure Z."

Article 26 is a relic of racist land-use and discriminatory housing policies that have denied the dream of homeownership to families who deserved better from our city.

Former California State Senator Don Perata: Yes on Z is long overdue

"Today every city has an allocation for how many units each city must build. Most cities don’t like it. But it’s the law and failure to comply will result in loss of state funds for infrastructure and grants for amenities like recreation, open space, and services to seniors.

The sky won’t fall by approving Measure Z. It is a well-reasoned planning document that allows the city to meet its obligations to state law while maintaining local preference for its future."
