While data is lacking around the big picture funding of LGBTQ causes, here at UAF, we prioritize getting resources into the hands of those in need, serving as one of the main funders of LGBTQ activists worldwide. https://ed.gr/egalg

Claims of underfunding in the LGBTQ space aren’t wrong, but it’s also notoriously difficult to get a read on how much money is being moved and how much is needed. Ultimately, some of this handwringing may be unnecessary.

Urgent Action Fund | Over $2 Million Awarded to Feminist Activists in Ukraine

Since February 2022, UAF has awarded more than $2 million to feminist activists in Ukraine. Our grants have helped communities evacuate, provided necessary supplies, sustained media and other local businesses, and helped LGBTQI groups in this time of need. https://ed.gr/ec1si

Since the war broke out in Ukraine in February 2022, Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights has quickly responded, awarding rapid response grants to feminist activists in need. We have awarded over $2 million in urgent response funding, and made over 130 grants in 15 countries.

Meet the Palestine Heirloom Seed Library, an organization who used a grant from UAF to purchase land in Palestine and plant heirloom and traditional seeds, keeping the crops safe from occupation. Part of the Fertile Crescent, Palestine has been considered one of the world’s centers of diversity, particularly for wheat and barley. This biodiversity is being threatened by policies that target farmers and force them to give up their heirloom seeds and adopt new varieties. The group seeks to preserve and promote heritage and threatened seed varieties, traditional Palestinian farming practices, and the cultural stories and identities associated with them.
