The Friends of the Alameda Free Library work to increase public awareness of the Library and support the Library in developing services and facilities.

The Friends of the Alameda Free Library is a volunteer organization. The Library Friends group was founded in 1973 to increase public awareness of the Library as an essential part of the community and to support the Library in developing services and facilities. The Friends worked for years toward the goal of a new Main Library. That goal was realized in November 2006 when Alameda's new Library op

ened at the corner of Lincoln and Oak. The Friends of the Library continue to support and fund projects, equipment, and goals of the Library. The Friends sponsor events such as author and speaker visits and children's programs.

Join Friends @ Home at the Alameda Free Library on Saturday, May 30 for an evening with New York Times best-selling author Alka Joshi, celebrated for her internationally acclaimed Jaipur Trilogy and her captivating new novel, Six Days in Bombay. The conversation will be hosted by award-winning journalist, NPR's Here and Now cohost, and fellow Alamedan Deepa Fernandes.

Friends of the Alameda Free Library is bringing a curated mix of great fiction books this Saturday, May 2 from 9am to 12pm—and you’re invited.

All just $2 to $3, each one donated by our community.

💌 Several books include reader notes—little reflections from past readers to give you a glimpse into the story before you even turn the first page.

Come wander, discover something unexpected, and start your weekend with a good story.

All proceeds benefit the Alameda Free Library (what's not to love?).

We'll be on the corner of Webster St. & Haight Ave. at the start of the Farmers' Market.

📚 Come in today: celebrate and support the library by finding a book for yourself or a loved one. A large donation of Romantic Fantasy arrived this week with some teen graphic novels, and Philip has set the table for our world. 🌏
