Wear your best green on May 16th

As part of the AKNG’s recognition of National Mental Health Awareness Month in May, the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program will host “Green up the Guard” Day on Tuesday, 16 May 2023. “Green Up the Guard” Day is a way to represent the efforts to raise awareness, reduce the stigma of seeking help, and support those living with mental health concerns.

On Tuesday, 16 May, Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) and Title 32 dual status technicians will be authorized to wear civilian attire, as mission and safety allows, that includes a green item of clothing IAW TAG's "National Mental Health Awareness Month "Green Up the Guard" Day memo.

Wearing green during “Green Up the Guard” shows support for those struggling with mental health and to remind individuals that they are not alone.

National Mental Health Awareness Month is not the only time to seek support. If you or someone you know is battling a mental health concern, please do not wait to ask for help. The following offices offer a variety of resources for AKNG service members.
