Job Description:
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is a state agency created by the legislature of the State of New Mexico, pursuant to NMSA 1978, 28-19-1 through-4 (1991). Enacted by the legislature of the State of New Mexico in 1991, the New Mexico Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission was created to develop, promote, coordinate and review statewide plans and activities for the annual commemorations and celebrations of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We are searching for a talented and professional community outreach coordinator to maintain all community outreach activities. You will represent the commission and work with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase the commission’s visibility both statewide and nationally.
You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this exciting role. This position requires someone equipped with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player.
Occupation Description
Plans, organize, and coordinates the activities of programs or community outreach organization events. Oversee the programs or organizational budget and policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements, and benefits.
Nature of Work
⁎Job assignments is including but are not limited to:
• Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
• Create and handle all social media platforms that will give visibility to the Commission.
• Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
• Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community and educate employees on community responsibility.
• Ordering supplies and equipment as needed to support the staff.
• Ordering and preparing training materials, events, and promotional items as needed;
• Assist in the organization of special events, including MLK Youth Programs, Dream Weekend, MLK March, youth conferences, and all other events and program initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Good written communication and presentation skills.
• Strong experience preparing reports.
• Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
• Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.
• Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Recommended Education and Experience for Full Performance:
• General MS Office proficiency; especially in Excel and Outlook along with Google platforms
• Strong customer service ethic and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
