In Light of the growing surge in the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron virus. and out of an abundance of caution, the Martin Luther King, Jr. State Commission must postpone all in-person Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorations be held virtually, to the extent possible.

As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, we must be mindful that "we must" learn to live together as brothers". Public safety must be our first priority. Therefore, it is prudent that we put a moratorium on MLK-sponsored public gatherings. We will provide you with regular updates as we closely monitor this evolving situation. We are looking to reschedule all MLK events in February 2022. The time, and place will be forthcoming.

During this challenging time, please heed the warnings of the CDC and other government authorities and take all necessary precautions to ensure that you and your family remain healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

Leonard Waites Beverly Jordan
