¡Bienvenidos a Nuevo México, Jake Vidro!

I am pleased to introduce you to Senior Airman Jake Vidro!🙌

Senior Airman Vidro served as an active duty Marine for several years, and at the end of his contract, he decided that he wanted to serve as a civilian firefighter, but also wanted to continue his military service. So…what better way than to join the New Mexico Air National Guard?! ✈️

Jake decided to join our Security Forces Squadron, which is the home of our military police. They are the ones who are ultimately responsible for protecting our base and our Airmen. He is going to be very well-rounded, having his Marines experience, his firefighter experience, and now his military police experience! Talk about a diverse resume!🤩

Welcome to the wonderful family that we have here in the Guard, Jake! Your family is our family. 😃

Welcome on board, Major Alexander Carey! ✈️

Major Carey’s career is about to take off in the New Mexico Air National Guard as our newest Special Operations pilot! He recently taxied to us from active duty Air Force, and we are grateful for his expertise that he brings to our unit.

Major Carey and his wife recently moved to Albuquerque and they opened their own art gallery! We welcomed them both into our unit as our new family members.

Thank you for choosing to continue your service with the New Mexico Air National Guard, Sir! The weather at your destination to the 150th Special Operations Wing is bright and sunny!

Thankful Thursday!!! 👏

Today we are feeling super thankful for our recent enlistees!

Speaking of which…please give a warm welcome to one of our newest family members, Staff Sergeant Treavon Nicoley!

Treavon dedicated the last few years of his life to active duty Air Force in Aircraft Armament Systems, took a little break, and then decided he wanted to continue his service. The New Mexico Air National Guard always has its doors open to prior-service members, and we graciously welcomed Sergeant Nicoley to our team. Since he was already in Aircraft Armament Systems in the Air Force, he decided to stay in this career field with us, so no further training is required for him.

What a smart move, Treavon! We are thankful that you chose to further your military service career, and we are proud to work alongside you.

Welcome to the family!

1, 2, 3, TO THE 4! LUIS CABRAL IS OUR NEWEST MEMBER, THAT’S FOR SURE! 😎

Well, he enlisted a couple of months ago, but, I am still getting caught up on posting our newest members!

Technical Sergeant Luis Cabral comes to the New Mexico Air National Guard from Active Duty Air Force, stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, which is where he found out about an awesome opportunity with our Maintenance unit. Luis was offered a spot in Education & Training, a job that is crucial to the overall success of our Maintenance group.

Sergeant Cabral was already working alongside our Guard members when he was Active Duty Air Force, which made his transition a breeze.

He is a great addition to our team, to say the least. He comes with many years of expertise, and his leadership is thrilled to have him join the squad.

Welcome to the fam, Luis!!! 👏

WELCOME TO THE AIR NATIONAL GUARD FAMILY, AIRMAN FIRST CLASS HOCKERSON! 👏

Calyn Hockerson recently enlisted into the New Mexico Air National Guard, and we consider ourselves so lucky to have her! She is currently pursuing a medical degree in college here in Albuquerque, and decided that a career in our 150th Medical Group would suit her needs perfectly.

Airman Hockerson chose wisely by deciding to enlist in the Air National Guard…in my completely unbiased opinion. 😂 She will be able to continue her education while simultaneously serving her country, all while getting paid, staying close to family and friends in New Mexico, AND receiving a multitude of benefits- to include 100% tuition assistance. 💰

I am so proud of you, Calyn! Welcome to the family/team/best job ever!!! 😎

🗣May we have your undivided attention, please?! We have an extra special announcement to make! 🗣

We recently welcomed Sergeant Shawn Byrd to the New Mexico Air National Guard! He comes to us from the New Mexico Army National Guard. (One team, one fight, am I right?!)

He had his heart set on getting a spot in our Intelligence Squadron, and he jumped through all the necessary hoops to make that happen!

We are so happy to have Sergeant Byrd in the Air National Guard and part of our TACO family. Because of his Army National Guard experience, he is able to give us great insight and advice. We are excited to see him progress through his career with us!

Thank you Shawn for continuing to serve our country and the state of New Mexico! 🙌

Senior Airman Esteban Garcia recently enlisted into the Air National Guard, and we are happy to have him!

Esteban was a prior-service Marine, and he did some pretty great things while serving in his component. Since he already had experience in his previous career field, he decided to do something completely different with our Intelligence Squadron.

Senior Airman Garcia- thank you for choosing to continue your military service! We are grateful for your time in service, and look forward to working alongside you in the great state of New Mexico!

Bienvenida a Nuevo México!!!! 👏

SrA Olivia Matthews is one of our newest Airmen in the New Mexico Air National Guard, and we are so glad to have her!

Olivia was active duty Air Force before transferring over to the Air National Guard. She was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base at the 377th Medical Group and fell in love with New Mexico. (We do have the best food on the planet, awesome people and culture, and we get all four seasons, so what’s not to love?! Not biased at all. 😎)

SrA Matthews was a Laboratory Technician as an active duty Airman, but decided to choose a different career field once she transferred to us. With that being said, Olivia is our newest Aviation Resource Management Specialist! Although she is doing something different in the Air National Guard, she is still a Laboratory Technician as a civilian. (The certifications that you get from the military are transferrable to the outside as a civilian. Awesome, right?!)

Olivia- thank you for loving New Mexico just as much as we do! You are going to be an excellent addition to the Aviation Resource Management team, and we look forward to being coworkers! 🙌

Holy smokes! 🔥🔥🔥Another enlistment for the New Mexico Air National Guard?!

Oh yes, you read that correctly! Please help us welcome Staff Sergeant Tyler Blake to the !

Staff Sergeant Blake comes to us from Active Duty Air Force, where he was enlisted in the Maintenance career field. Since he was given the option to do so, Sergeant Blake wanted to try his hand at something different! He had several options available, but chose the Medical career field, where his new title will be “Health Services Manager”. Sounds like the coolest job in the Air Force, right? Well, actually, all of our jobs are the coolest jobs in the Air Force!

Sergeant Blake was a “Palace Chase” applicant, which means he went through an application process-- which ultimately was approved, allowing him to convert his Active Duty commitment to an Air National Guard commitment. Now THAT is cool. 😎

Congratulations again and again and again, Sergeant Blake! The Medical Group welcomes you with open arms!

!New Taco Member!
We’d like to introduce one of our newest members to the Taco family-High School Senior Adrian Perez!

Airman Adrian Perez is a High School Senior at Albuquerque High and after talking to his friend Adán Veleta-Hernandez (also pictured above), he decided to take the oath and enlist into the NM Air National Guard.

Adrian Perez had a wide variety of jobs to choose from, and selected a career in Aircraft Maintenance, specifically working on Communications/Navigations and Mission Systems on our C-130 Aircraft.

We are excited to have you as a part of our Maintenance Squadron and unit. Welcome to the 150th Air National Guard!!

Fun fact: Any current member who refers an applicant and they take that oath, they will receive a day off from drill (their one weekend a month Duty)

Enlisting in the New Mexico Air National Guard is the perfect way to start the week off on the right foot! 😎

Airman Jazzine Ruiz has it figured out! Jazzmine has been working with Sgt Dorette Baca and Sgt Tara Balzano for quite some time, and we are so thankful that she stayed committed to the process…it definitely paid off in the long run! 👏

Airman Ruiz had several jobs to choose from, but she ultimately decided that our “Administration” career field would suit her needs the most. She will be working with our Operations Group as part of their Commander Support Staff. (This means that she will be responsible for some very important tasks, but we are confident that she will handle her responsibilities with ease.) 🙌

Jazzmine is a talented and driven individual, and we are excited to watch her become an Airman! We are grateful you decided to stay dedicated to your enlistment process, Airman Ruiz! Congratulations again and again!

Hold onto your hats folks, that crazy New Mexican wind/snow storm blew in a brand new Airman to the New Mexico Air National Guard! 🌬

Let’s all give a loud and proud shout out to Airman First Class William Calhoun! Airman Calhoun initially pursued active duty Air Force, but opted for Air National Guard because he wanted to stay in New Mexico, further his education, and serve in the military all at once. What a cool move, William! His father was active duty Air Force for over 20 years, so he definitely wanted to carry on the family tradition. 🫡

William chose an incredible job with us- Special Operations Forces/Personnel Recovery Integrated Electronic Warfare Systems. (All of our jobs are incredible jobs, by the way 😎) He scored very high on his ASVAB test (the required entry exam for all military branches) which gave him a long list of jobs to choose from. He knew immediately that he wanted to do something “electrical” to coincide with his civilian interests, so our Maintenance career field was the perfect fit for him.

Airman Calhoun is a very intelligent individual, and we are super excited to see how far he will go in his career! Thanks for volunteering to serve with us, William! 👏

Why Wednesday!!!

On this month’s Why Wednesday, we’d like to introduce Staff Sergeant Michelle Owens!

Sergeant Owens joined the New Mexico Air National Guard in 2018 as a Personnel Recovery Integrated Instrument and Flight Control Systems Airman- in other words, an Avionics Technician.

Sergeant Michelle Owens works full time as a realtor for a luxury builder in Las Vegas Nevada. How cool is that?! While Michelle lives and works full time in Las Vegas- once a month, she fulfills her military duty in New Mexico, where she has the opportunity to switch up her day-to-day life and work on our C-130 aircraft.

Sergeant Owens joined the Air National Guard for the education benefits, the VA home loan (remember, she is a realtor 😊), and for personal growth.

In her downtime, Owens enjoys golfing, traveling and attending sporting events.

When we asked her what advice she would give to somebody looking to join the Air National Guard, she responded, “The Air National Guard can be a stepping stone or a career path, and no matter which direction you choose, you will gain an experience that no civilian job can match.”

Thank you Sergeant Michelle Owens for allowing us to highlight who you are in and outside of the military!

We have a very special announcement to make!!! 📢

Staff Sergeant Mateo Cordova-Justice recently joined our family! Mateo is the son of Master Sergeant Justice, and also has a brother in the ! We often refer to the New Mexico Air National Guard as one big, happy family, and it’s true. We love when our Guard family members recruit their own family members!

Staff Sergeant Cordova-Justice comes to our team from Active Duty Air Force. He recently separated from Active Duty and began to miss the uniform and benefits that the military has to offer, so he decided to enlist with us. Mateo was previously employed in the Maintenance career field and wanted to try something different, so he chose Network Systems Operations this time around. This job comes with great certifications that he can use as a civilian. Excellent choice, Mateo! 👏

Thank you Master Sergeant Justice for referring your son to us, and thank you Staff Sergeant Cordova-Justice for choosing to continue your military service! You are a great fit for the team, and you will do great things in the !

Adiós to one of our newest TACOs! Airman Marisa Quiñones leaves to Air Force Basic Military Training in just a couple of weeks, and we are so proud to call her our Wingman! 🙌

Marisa enlisted a few months ago and has been attending Student Flight one weekend a month for our drill weekends. Student Flight gives our new Airmen the opportunity to learn what to expect at Basic Military Training, prepares them for Air Force physical fitness standards, and most importantly, allows them to make friends within the New Mexico Air National Guard! (All while getting paid!!) 💰

Marisa will be at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for 7.5 weeks to complete “boot camp”. We know she is going to absolutely crush it! We are so proud of you, Airman Quiñones!!!!

🗣Please help us wish this outstanding individual all the good vibes in the world!

We would like to take a moment to shout this from the rooftops…

WELCOME TO THE NEW MEXICO AIR NATIONAL GUARD, ARYANA! 🙌

Please help us give a friendly welcome to our newest Airman- Airman Aryana Sanchez!

Not only is Aryana beginning her military career, she is also pursuing a college degree. (Talk about a dedicated young lady!) She was born and raised in Los Lunas, New Mexico, and she thought that joining the would provide her many opportunities for her future, and we concur!

Airman Sanchez was referred to us by her mother…the one and only CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JESSICA MADRID from the 210th Red Horse Squadron. 👏

Aryana decided to choose a job titled “Fleet Management and Analysis”, and will be a specialist in this field. During drill weekends, (our one weekend a month at Kirtland Air Force Base) Aryana will be responsible for keeping every vehicle in our motor pool up and running- using the latest technology to keep track of maintenance needs, and ensuring all vehicles are in excellent working order when they are needed. 🚚

Aryana- you are such an inspiration to those who are looking up to you. You are living proof that your future is what you make of it, and your future is looking bright in the Air National Guard! ⭐️ You are going to do great things!!! Congratulations again and again.

🗣Attention to our loyal followers of the New Mexico Air National Guard Recruiting page! 🗣 We have a very special announcement!

We have a new Airman here at the 150th Special Operations Wing! Please join us in congratulating Staff Sergeant Randy Serrano for volunteering to serve in the .

Randy is the epitome of “Service Before Self”, one of the core values of the Air Force. Sgt Serrano was previously a Marine, selflessly serving several years prior to transitioning to the Air National Guard. Not only has he dedicated his life to the military, he also proudly serves as a police officer at the Albuquerque Police Department. 🚓

Sgt Serrano was referred to us by Sgt Antonio Ortega, who is also a police officer and a New Mexico Air National Guardsman. (We have a lot of police officers working with us!) 👏

Thank you for your commitment to your country and your community, Randy! Your prior military service experience and leadership skills will definitely benefit our unit, and we look forward to working alongside you for many years to come!

“WHY? WEDNESDAY” is back at it again with another awesome Airman to highlight!

Dina Harmon, a Staff Sergeant in the New Mexico Air National Guard, graciously accepted our request to interview her. Anybody who knows Dina, knows that she has one of the most contagious laughs out there. 😂

Sgt Harmon is an Aircrew Flight Equipment Specialist with us, which means she has a REALLY COOL JOB. Aircrew Flight Equipment Specialists are responsible for a multitude of duties, including inspections, maintaining and adjusting flight crew equipment, preparing our aircraft for flights, and so much more. (And guess what? We still have job openings in this career field! You could be the next Dina Harmon!)

Dina joined the because she wanted to stay in Albuquerque since her entire family is located here. She said, “I also wanted to go back to school full-time and felt this was the best option to finish.” She was right! The Air National Guard harps on the importance of education, and provides some pretty great education benefits to our members.

Sgt Harmon has been enlisted with the NMANG since 2018, stating, “I am also prior service Navy, so thankfully I didn’t have to do another Basic Military Training!” (Fun fact, since she went through the Navy’s military training, she did not have to go through the Air Force Basic Military Training course.)

Dina goes on to say, “Right now I am a part-time student. I finally found classes that I enjoy and get excited about attending. I’m also a Temporary-Technician, so I’m working at the 150th four days out of the week, which is awesome because I genuinely enjoy the people I work with.” We definitely agree, she works with some GREAT Airmen in her shop.

Sgt Harmon’s hobbies include drawing, gardening, and any DIY projects around the house. She also spends a lot of time with her family, and she told us that her nephews are the coolest little humans she knows. 🤗

Dina wanted to leave a little tidbit of advice for our followers: “For anyone who wants to join the NMANG, it’s a great option if you want to serve, but would prefer to stay in Albuquerque, NM. I wish I had known about the NMANG before I joined Active Duty Navy. For me, I get the best of both worlds. I love serving my country and community, but I’m older now, and I do not want to move every couple of years. There’s a tight-knit community within the Guard that you can’t find anywhere else. This is my second home, my second family, and we look out for each other.”

Her previous statement gave us the chills!!! It is 100% factual. 🎶WE ARE FAMILY! 🎶

👏Thank you for your words, Staff Sergeant Harmon!! 👏

All Soldiers and Airmen in the National Guard:
Please take 5 mins to take the 2017 National Guard Service Perspective survey.
The results of this survey will be briefed to the Chief of NGB in November and will assist Congress in understanding what benefits are most important and utilized by our NG members! I will be pushing this survey utilizing various avenues.
If you would like to forward to your contacts, your support is appreciated.
Thank you!

I doubt that anyone I knew there is still there, but I was a member of the 150th from 1982 until I had to come back to Ohio because of a family death. I still retired from the ANG, but from the 178th here in Springfield. I was very proud of the 150th while I was there and remember everyone with great fondness. Thanks to all of you.
anyone here part of the 150 FSS? Cannon AFB has a Title 10 tour and looking for Personnelist who can help their MPS out. They are willing to pay for per diem costs for any DSG looking to be placed on orders. Please let me know.
