The New Mexico Rail Runner Express is running special train service on Thursday, September 14, 2023 for Governor Bill Richardson's funeral services.
An additional northbound morning train has been added, departing the Downtown Albuquerque Station at 8:33 a.m. and arriving at the South Capitol Station at 10:07 a.m. The train will make all stops between the Downtown Albuquerque and South Capitol stations.
Buses will transport passengers from the South Capitol Station to the Cathedral Basilica St. Francis of Assisi. Following the services, buses will pick up passengers at the State Capitol and bring them back to the South Capitol Rail Runner Station.

The Sandia Pueblo Rail Runner Station opened on this day in 2011. The station is uniquely located at the southern edge of pueblo lands near the Bosque.
There will be no New Mexico Rail Runner Express or Rio Metro bus service on Monday, September 4, 2023, Labor Day. The train will operate on a regular Saturday/Sunday schedule over Labor Day weekend.

Rio Metro's Valencia County Dial-a-Ride service is free to anyone traveling throughout Valencia County, including students heading back to class at the UNM-Valencia Campus. Rides must be requested by 12 Noon one business day in advance by calling (505) 352-3595.

This year's Memorial Ride takes place on Saturday, August 19. The ride begins in Downtown Albuquerque and travels travels to the NM State Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Santa Fe. Participants have the option to ride back on Rail Runner train #709 departing the Santa Fe Co. / NM 599 Station at 3:27 p.m.

We're often asked if food and beverages are available for purchase on the Rail Runner. They are not. However, passengers are welcome to bring and consume food and beverages (excluding alcohol) on the train. We ask that riders please clean up after themselves and follow train etiquette.
