Designbuild Education adopts the intellectual framework of American Pragmatism, which is a theory of action, to investigate architects’ compelling urge to build and how that manifests in collegiate designbuild programs. Organized into four themes―people, poetics, process, and practi...

spinning house skates -- with animal names

So today, one of the ecoMOD construction seminars this semester finished off our new UNM ecoMOD House Skates! They help us more our modules around (the UVA ecoMODers will fondly remember the UVA house skates...) The UNM ones are a bit smaller, but we'll have a few more of them - six are fully complete, four more need casters.... AND the BIG change is they have all been named -- with animal names. They range from Msh Msh (apricot in Arabic) and Bambi to Dot and Fido (my family's pets). Thumper and Tigger are included too. We have already considered racing the animals on our supe-rflat and smooth floor....

Happy New Year to all the ecoMODers! Looking forward to finishing the first New Mexican ecoMOD in 2017.

General information

The ecoMOD project – while striving to be both visionary and practical — explores the potential of prefabricated and renovated housing, while rethinking certain aspects of it. The design process is embedded in the belief that some practices within current conventional housing construction can be accepted, while others must be directly challenged. The intent of the ecoMOD designs is to create site-specific homes, using natural lighting and ventilation, non-hazardous materials, renewable energy, and energy-efficient systems to help reduce environmental impact and improve occupant health.
