Health leaders see decline in breast cancer screening

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, elective medical procedures, including cancer screening, were largely put on hold to prioritize urgent needs and reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 in healthcare settings. One consequence of this has been a substantial decline in cancer screening. The American Cancer Society urges women to talk to their doctors about their options for safe screening and maintain a schedule as much as possible. Cancer is most easily treatable when it is caught early. #breastcancerawarenessmonth #attackingcancer

Many medical procedures were put on hold because of the pandemic, including cancer screenings.

We’re here for you!

We know a cancer diagnosis can be scary – and overwhelming. Whether you need emotional support, the latest cancer information, a ride to chemo, or a place to stay when treatment is far away, we're here to help – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When it comes to cancer, we are the only organization attacking from every angle.

Over the past 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working relentlessly to end cancer. We're not there yet, but with the help of our donors, we've made some incredible progress.

And our volunteers! They are at the heart of everything we do. They fundraise, they help patients, they advocate for life-saving change, and they're committed to helping us achieve our mission. Generous fundraising through events like Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Gala, and Relay For Life enable the Society to offer programs and services free of charge to cancer patients. Programs and services in New Mexico include Road To Recovery, Look Good Feel Better, lodging programs, Cancer Resource Centers, Patient Navigation, and more.

We’re here for you and we’re looking forward to partnering with you in the fight against cancer. Thanks for following us on Facebook. Invite your friends and family to follow us to!
