Air Force officials announced major changes to the enlisted professional military education program today via an initiative called Enlisted Professional Military Education for the 21st Century, or “EPME 21.”

A major initiative of EPME 21 is that time in service will no longer dictate an Airman’s EPME enrollment -- Airmen will only be required to complete distance learning courses as a prerequisite to their resident attendance.

A reminder for two great upcoming events:

FREE Kirtland Day at the Zoo and Bio Park
The ABQ BioPark will provide free admission on Saturday, Sept. 10 for Kirtland Air Force Base active-military personnel, base employees and their immediate family members. Valid ID is required upon entry for active military or current DoD employees (CAC cards.) Active military member or base employee must accompany the family members, unless that person is deployed. This free admission applies to the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Botanic Garden & Aquarium. Guests can go to both locations, but the train ride between facilities is not included in the free admission. Families may bring in their own food and drinks for lunch (no glass, please) or can purchase meals on-site. Attendees should also plan to go to the giant shell at 12:30 p.m. for a special address by the mayor. He will be thanking Kirtland military members and civil servants for their service. For more information, call 505-846-5991.
