I am incredibly proud of the work done by the Albuquerque Police Department and prosecutors from our major crimes division in securing a first degree murder conviction for Izaiah Garcia. Our hearts go out to Sean Markey’s family and although nothing we could do can take away their loss we are honored to have served them and the community in obtaining justice in this difficult case.

This morning a jury found Izaiah Garcia guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the murder of Sandia High School student Sean Markey.
