There is still time to apply to the grant opportunity through the Con Alma Health Foundation. Nonprofits can learn more about this opportunity at https://conalma.org/grantmaking/for-grant-seekers/

There is still time to apply!!! Vaccine Rollout grant cycle closes Tuesday, June 15, 2021 by midnight.

Nonprofits can apply for a grant at https://conalma.org/grantmaking/for-grant-seekers/

We have begun work on a new $2.5 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation that will help ensure COVID-19 vaccines are distributed equitably across New Mexico and support communities to address the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on them.

Grants will promote the equitable allocation, distribution, delivery and access to vaccines. Con Alma will prioritize applications that involve coordinating among various sectors and targeting underserved areas of New Mexico as well as identifying and alleviating gaps in vaccine roll-out efforts, and addressing barriers and/or vaccine hesitancy through coordinated messaging.

In addition to the grant awards to nonprofits, Con Alma is working with the New Mexico Health Equity Partnership, an initiative of the Santa Fe Community Foundation, to expand the capacity of existing networks to address service gaps, leverage resources, and create a COVID-19 recovery plan that focuses on long-term policies and system-change strategies to address health disparities and advance health equity.

08/20/2020

As of this week, an estimated 46 percent of New Mexicans still have not responded to the Census. The stakes are too high to allow an inaccurate count. The Census is mandated by the Constitution every ten years. It helps determine how much representation we have in Congress and sets federal funding levels that affect schools, roads, and hospitals. For New Mexico, an incomplete count could reduce tens of millions of dollars in critical federal funding in our state's budget. Visit https://2020census.gov/ to do your part and help New Mexico get the resources we need

New Mexico’s annual all-day conference about prostate cancer will be held Saturday, November 4 at Sandia Prep in Albuquerque. The time is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is an opportunity for men or women interested in learning more about this cancer, which strikes about one in seven men during their lifetime. This year’s theme is “What’s Next for Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment.” In addition to a stage-setting review about the history of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, there will be talks about scanning tools. Also scheduled is a panel discussion about risk assessment approaches. Much of the afternoon will offer an opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with a New Mexico-based urologist, oncologist, or radiologist. Prostate cancer, which often presents no symptoms, is very treatable if diagnosed early. But, that requires, as a first step, making sure men and their doctors talk about the importance of regular screening. About one in seven men will get prostate cancer in their lifetimes. Recent statistics show that about 1,300 New Mexico men are diagnosed each year with prostate cancer. Most are at least 55 years old; however, men much younger are not immune. For more information, contact the Prostate Cancer Support Association of New Mexico at 505-254-7784 or toll-free at 1-800-278-7678. The web site is www.pcsanm.org.
