Rio Grande Food Project

Rio Grande Food Project Rio Grande Food Project is conducting two food distributions per week through October 2020. Every Wednesday and Friday, 9:00-11:00am or until food runs out.

Income limits apply, masks required. We've been feeding people since 1989! In 2016, we distributed nearly 3 million meals to over 47 thousand people in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas. Serving an average of 420 households each week, we are the largest food pantry on Albuquerque's west side, and the second largest pantry in Albuquerque. We believe that no child, adult, or senior should be hungry.

This company and their team are AMAZING!! They receive lots of awards for their much-deserved, beautiful work and they are incredibly generous and helpful to our community! #SupportLocalBusiness #thankyou

Each year we at AIC are FORTUNATE enough to be able to give back in certain ways and we ALWAYS will. A promise!

One of our favorite ways to support local charities is to quiz our employees each holiday season and let them each pick their OWN local charity to do a year end donation to in their name. This year we are very happy to say that yesterday we sent out checks to the following non-profits:

Rio Grande Food Project, Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico, New Mexico Appleseed, Barrett Foundation, Joy Junction, Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, Wounded Warrior Project and Santo Domingo Pueblo relief project.

We are VERY happy with our employee's choices! Look for ANOTHER post about this sort of thing this Friday as well! :) :)

It is truly heartwarming when community comes together to help others. Thank you Albuquerque Journal for highlighting Food is Free Albuquerque's work to share profits from #GivingTuesday with 4 other non-profits, including ours to help feed our neighbors. Now THAT'S #commUNITY.

Here is FIFABQ's statement and link to donate:

This Tuesday [December 1] is #GivingTuesday, the biggest day for nonprofit organizations to receive critical year-end funding + the official start of Giving Season! We humbly ask for your support and in doing so, supporting some of our favorite organizations that have supported us over the year.

Let's change the narrative to supporting one another VS. challenging each other for support.

BIG thanks to Food is Free Albuquerque for creating a unique collaboration for the upcoming #givingtuesday2020 to benefit 4 other local non-profits, including RGFP. #yourock #thankyou

#GivingTuesday is the biggest day for nonprofit organizations to receive critical year-end funding + the official start of Giving Season.

The nonprofit sector can often feel like a real-life version of The Hunger Games when it comes to funding, with each organization competing to be the most deserving of dollars. This year has not exactly eased this.

Today we are ECSTATIC to share our partners for this year!
> Mandy's Farm
> Roots Farm + Natural Learning Center [behind the scenes as Roots Farm Cafe]
> Food Not Bombs ABQ
> Rio Grande Food Project

We are all focused on solving social injustices related to food security. Each day this week we will focus on one of our partners. Showcasing how they are weaving the fabric of a stronger #commUNITY.
This year is you choose to donate to us, we ask that you choose one of our partners to split your kindness + support with. We couldn't do this without YOU. We cannot adequately serve our community without each other!

The Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe responded swiftly and generously to the pandemic by creating the 2020 Emergency Catholic Community Fund. Since March, $107,446 has been awarded in emergency grants to community organizations, schools and parishes. In addition, they have awarded $533,155 to 79 different organizations in 17 counties through their competitive grant process! To date, $2,242,563 has been distributed throughout the Archdiocese impacting the lives of countless people in our state.
We deeply appreciate your support during this unprecedented year. We were awarded both an emergency grant and a competitive grant to help our community’s food insecure population. THANK YOU for your ongoing positive impacts across so many amazing New Mexico organizations and institutions!
