Our family received another death threat to our home from an anonymous caller this morning.
We want to thank the Second Judicial District Attorney’s office and the FBI for their support. Their investigation is ongoing, as are their attempts to track down the caller.
All we ask is that today—you do one act of kindness for someone else to help combat the hate raging in our country.

I live with PTSD. Every minute, every moment has been a struggle since my husband and I received the death threat over the weekend.
We thank you all for the love you have shown, and for being honest with us. We have heard too many stories similar to ours—when did we let this happen? Shouldn’t we be demanding better for all of us?
Something has to change. I’m committed to working with anyone to do that. Republican or Democrat, or neither. Conservative, liberal I don’t care.
Our problems and our potential are greater than political party. We are one people and our families all matter, no matter what they look like or who they vote for.

“Threats against any member of the New Mexico Senate will not be tolerated by this body.
We embrace diversity in our state and within the New Mexico Senate Chamber. This is what makes us strong. Having a Senator and his family targeted with hateful, homophobic language is a painful affront to everything we stand for. We condemn the attacks against Senator Candelaria and his husband Kory and reject the hate behind any actions directed at our members because of who they are or what they represent.
The New Mexico Senate takes great pride in our spirit of inclusion and commitment to civil discourse. While disagreement and debate are important components of the political process, we treat each other with respect. The public sphere should be no different. Spreading hatred, sowing division and threatening violence because of ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, or ideological differences must stop”
We’re all responsible for how we get out of this.
Without reducing spread, the health care system will be overwhelmed.
What’s happened to our family over the past 48 hours is unacceptable. We’re not backing down and we’re not in hiding, but this article sums up what we’ve been through trying to get the police to investigate credible threats of violence, laced with the most vile homophobic slurs.

“No one is taking this seriously,” State Senator Jacob Candelaria tells Out
Among them, a Michigan congresswoman and a New Mexico state senator, both Democrats.
My husband and I received this death threat at 12:34 am. The caller has an open warrant and a long criminal history. APD and State Police were alerted at 1 am and given this information.
As of now, neither the Governor nor the Mayor have committed that state law enforcement agencies will execute the warrant and bring this man in.
My family and I have had to leave ABQ for our own safety. Law enforcement did not respond for 13 hours. It took my private investigator to find out the caller may have had an open warrant. NO action was taken by either APD or the State Police to investigate this threat for over 8 hours; they didn’t move until we informed them that we traced the number to a man with an open warrant.
THIS CANNOT BE AMERICA.
PLEASE HELP US. This is not a drill.

The New Mexico PRC is fundamentally broken. Petty personal and political fights dominate, and New Mexico‘s economy pays the price.
Constitutional amendment one would make New Mexico join the 39 other states with a professional PRC, made up of engineers, consumer advocates, and scientists.

I'm writing this post to ask for your membership renewals or new memberships for the year. (Only $5/yr). We usually collect membership dues at our Natl Night Out in August or at our end of year potluck in November. While we are not having any in-person events because of Covid-19 and because of the state mandate of large gatherings, I am asking for everyone to re-up now.
We rely on your membership so we have the ability to help those in need in our neighborhood. This year, we are helping the West Central Community Development Group to purchase supplies, food, toiletries etc for students at Alamosa Elementary. (Thank you Johnny Pena for bringing up this need).
