Our 6th Educator's Summit is finally here! The 6th Educators Summit is a time for people who care about New Mexico's education to come together to learn about, develop and discuss how we work together to ensure all NM students including undocumented and DACAmented receive the education they deserve. We will be providing educators with issue based workshops to bring awareness to the distinct barriers undocumented students face beyond their immigration status; such as being people of color, low income status, first generation, LGBTQ+, etc.

Any educators (faculty, advisors, staff, community members) that work with undocumented, immigrant students and students of color in NM will benefit from participating in this conference. Our goal is to re-frame the education system, so that all students in the state of New Mexico receive an education that prepares them to thrive in their future.

A need for healthcare...

"We all know healthcare in the United States has become a commodity for those who can afford to pay for the treatment instead of it being a human right. Let me be clear, healthcare IS a human right." Victor Romero-Hernandez is someone that has been directly impacted by COVID-19 and medical debt. His father is someone that has been consistantly in and out of the hospital for years due to his medical condition and he has racked up a hefty amount of medical debt. His mother was affected by COVID-19 and she needed to seek medical treatment to help her get better. We need to urge our legislators to pass legislation like HB 13 that aims to help pay for COVID-19 testing and treatment, so that our families don't suffer even more during this health crisis. #HealthcareForAll

Licensing for All- Crystal

"Mientras estaba en la universidad, tenia mucho temor y angustia en saber si iba a poder a conseguir mi licensia por mi estatus migratorio" Esto es un temor que muchos jovenes indocumentados tienen antes de graduarse de la universidad. El año pasado New Mexico Dream Team, New Mexico Immigrant Law Center y New Mexico Voices for Children pudimos pasar la ley SB 137. #LicensingForAll #nmleg #nmpol

https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4257168 **Anne Frank Remembrance Day with Deborah Lipstadt, Sunday August 4, 2019 3 pm** The Santa Fe Distinguished Lecture Series and the Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival are sponsoring this Anne Frank Remembrance Day on Sunday, August 4, the 75 anniversary of the arrest and deportation of Anne Frank and her family. In a special event for New Mexico, Deborah Lipstadt will speak on Antisemitism: Here and Now on August 4 in Santa Fe at the James A. Little Theater at 3 pm. There will be a VIP reception for her after the talk. Her new book on Antisemitism, published earlier this year, sold out immediately and went into a second printing on the second week after its release. In addition to the American edition, it is now being published in England, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Israel. Lipstadt came to national attention in 2016 with the movie Denial in which she was played by Rachel Weisz, a movie about her international court case with David Irving, a Holocaust denier in England. Lipstadt had long fought Holocaust deniers, and in this court case she was able to prove the falsehoods of those who denied it happened. After a successful in in theaters, Denial can now be seen on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and other streaming services. Her TED talk abut the trial has received 1.2 million views. Prof. Deborah Lipstadt has held the Presidential appointment to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council and represented President George W. Bush at the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. She is the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish History and Holocaust Studies at Emory University. Her books include The Eichmann Trial, Denial: Holocaust History on Trial (a National Jewish Book Award-winner), Denying the Holocaust: The Growing Assault on Truth and Memory, and Beyond Belief: The American Press and the Coming of the Holocaust, 1933-1945. Public officials will help us in this program "United Against Antisemitism", an initiative of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico
I am hearing from students about a program where they go back to Mexico to take classes and the test for American citizenship. I am very concerned it is a scam and they will be stuck back in Mexico. Have you heard anything about this?

From policy to the classroom, he explores the rocky terrain facing US teachers and students, and makes clear, evidence-based suggestions on what can be done to support individuals and improve the system on many levels. Listen now:
