Tim Eichenberg for State Treasurer

Tim Eichenberg for State Treasurer nmsto.gov I’m Tim Eichenberg and I want to be your next State Treasurer. I’ve been active in the Democratic Party since I was elected Bernalillo County Treasurer at the age of 22 in 1974 (please don’t do the math).

The State Treasurer is important to all of us. We need to thank James B. Lewis for restoring honesty and ethics to the office after several past treasurers abused their position. In addition to being the state’s fiscal agent with an office budget of 3.5 million dollars, the State Treasurer sits on the State Investment Council and is the custodian of both the PERA Fund and the Educational Retirement Fund. I grew up in Albuquerque, one of seven children, attended Albuquerque Public Schools and graduated from the University of New Mexico. My wife Sandra and I were married in 1980 and we have two adult children. I believe my past experience uniquely qualifies me for State Treasurer: - Elected Bernalillo County Treasurer – two terms (1974 & 1976) - Elected to the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (1994 – present) - State Property Tax Director, State Tax and Revenue Department (appointed in 2004) - Elected to the State Senate (2008) - Currently Democratic Ward Chairman and a member of the State Central Committee I have managed multi-million dollar budgets of taxpayer monies and chaired the State’s Government Restructuring Committee (2010) and Revenue Stabilization and Tax Policy Committee (2011) as well as being the sponsor of the “The Government Conduct Act” which became law in 2011. I am knowledgeable about the State Treasurer’s office, having served as Bernalillo County Treasurer, Chairman of the AMAFCA Board and as a State Senator. I have a reputation for fiscal responsibility. Our current Treasurer has done an outstanding job, but has termed-out; we share the same core values of trust, respect and ethical behavior by elected officials. I am asking for your support and your vote. If you have any questions or want to help my campaign, I would welcome your call at (505) 710-1305.

For state treasurer, The New Mexican recommends Tim Eichenberg. He is a solid, ethical public servant who can be trusted to take care of the state’s money. The treasurer is essentially the state’s banker, clearing and reconciling transactions across agencies. Second, the treasurer is responsible for…

I attended a memorial service this morning in Albuquerque, a ceremony of remembrance for the men and women who lost their lives in service to our great country and our great state. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we all remember the fallen.

It was my pleasure to meet with several of the veterans that have been supporting the USS New Mexico since its inception. www.USSNewMexicoSSN779.com. I had the privilege to attend the commissioning of the vessel in Norfolk, Virginia and am grateful to the men and women who are currently serving on her.

Always a great day in Albuquerque to ride a bicycle and especially today as we promote bike to work. Many thanks go out to Mayor Marty Chavez for his vision for our bike trail system. Also to Danny Hernandez, my colleague at AMAFCA who talked me into running for the Board in 1994 in order to promote more bike trails on AMAFCA right of way. Lets ride Albuquerque!

Proud to announce that I have been endorsed by the Albuquerque Area Fire Fighters Local 244!

Diego Arencon, President of Albuquerque's International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) had this to say about my candidacy:

"As a former Bernalillo County Treasurer, Director of NM Property Tax Division and State Senator you have been a proven leader and avocet striving to better our community and state. We have full confidence that your knowledge, experience and appreciation for public safety will best serve the New Mexico State Treasurer's Office."
