TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE - Intersection of NW 8th Avenue and NW 5th Street

Due to the street resurfacing work happening this month and next, the north and southbound crossings of NW 8th Avenue and NW 5th Street are temporarily closed. This closure will last up to a few days, dependent on the weather.

Clearly marked house numbers are the difference between a small emergency and a major catastrophe.

First responders depend on clearly marked homes to find medical emergencies, house fires, and public safety issues.

You can buy house numbers online or at any hardware store to clearly mark your home or the mailbox.

Here is the requirement:

Be legible and visible from the street or road.
Contrast with their background for better visibility.
Be at least 4 inches in height.

It's (nearly) time for Summer Clean Up, Aledo! Depending on where you live, you can put bulk items curbside starting June 15. Read below for the full details.

North of Main Street | Monday, June 15
Place your items curbside by 4 a.m. on June 15

South of Main Street | Monday, June 22
Place your items curbside by 4 a.m. on June 22

Large items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs, or grills (without tanks) can be placed curbside. NEW THIS YEAR: Up to two appliances per household. Please note that only one pick-up truck load per household will be collected and only a single pass by your residence will be made.

Prohibited Items include: Tires, Hazardous Chemicals, Liquid form paints. Yard Waste, Propane Tanks, and TVs or Computer Monitors

Street Resurfacing Work Set To Begin

Road construction will begin on June 8 in Northwest Aledo as crews begin resurfacing the asphalt across 22 blocks near the Genesis Medical Center and more than half a mile of roadway on NW 3rd Avenue by the Northside Park.

The construction should take approximately 1 month and conclude in mid-July. While residents will see and experience road construction, no major roadway closures are expected. All work will be conducted during daytime business hours.

Impacted Streets are:
Northwest 7th Avenue- SW 2nd Street north through the 600 Block (7 blocks) Northwest 8th Avenue- SW 2nd Street north through the 600 block (7 blocks) Northwest 2nd Street- SW 7th Avenue west to SW 9th Avenue (2 blocks) Northwest 3rd street- SW 7th Avenue west to SW 9th Avenue (2 blocks) Northwest 4th street- SW 7th Avenue west to SW 9th Avenue (2 blocks) Northwest 5th street- approximately 100 feet West of NW 8th avenue Intersection Northwest 6th street- SW 7th avenue west to SW 9th avenue (2 blocks)
