This Saturday, June 6th we want to encourage all community members to join us as we escort the class of 2020 through town.

Untraditional isn’t even how to describe the year that they have endured. These seniors deserve to be recognized and we want to do just that!

Approximately 2:30-3:00 we will be leaving the school headed towards Petersburg. We then will be coming to Alexandria and ending at Acco Brands. Listen up because you’ll hear us coming!

We’d love to see you step outside and applaud these students for a job well done! One major thing our community is notorious for is our community support and we know that you won’t let us down! Can’t wait to see you Saturday!

Alexandria Fire Company

Amidst the current pandemic, we at the Alexandria Fire Company feel that is in important to honor and celebrate the lives of the fallen soldiers who have died fighting for and defending our rights and freedoms.

While the town will not be celebrating traditionally with our large parade, we still wish to recognize our heroes.

The fire company will be having a parade honoring those and we will be using our Santa Run route. We will begin at 9am from the fire hall.

Please take a moment with us on Memorial Day to give our thanks to those who gave their lives for us. We ask that if you wish to come outside to pay your respects with us, that you please adhere to the CDC recommendations. Please stay 6 feet apart from any person not living in your house and utilize masks when applicable. Thank you.

God bless America.

Press Release
COVID-19 Pandemic Highlights Need for Adequate Internet Connectivity
ALTOONA, Pa. – In 2019, Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC) was awarded a grant to coordinate a feasibility study in order to inventory existing broadband assets, to identify gaps in service, and to develop a plan for improving broadband services throughout the region. As part of the study, SAP&DC is conducting a survey to assess current levels of broadband service and needs.

SAP&DC has contracted with Design Nine, Inc., from Blacksburg Virginia to assist with the eight-county, broadband study. Outreach efforts began earlier this year and there have been more than 4,200 residential surveys and 280 business surveys completed. Adequate internet connectivity is critical to so many aspects of our daily lives and now, with the pandemic emphasizing the need for reliable broadband infrastructure, the information gathered from the survey responses is of significant value.

Understanding the importance of this issue, SAP&DC is committed to continue identifying and implementing broadband solutions across the region. In order to assist with these planning efforts, please share this information or take a few minutes to complete the below survey prior to April 30, 2020.

Take the survey in less than 5 minutes by going to one of the follow websites:

Juniata Valley School District Bulletin
Community members and businesses in the Juniata Valley School District have come together to provide food for hungry children in our district while the schools are closed. Starting Monday, March 23rd, children will be able to pick up either a lunch meat and cheese or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at lunch time (Monday through Friday) from a variety of locations throughout the district. Food will be distributed on a “grab-and-go” basis (taken home to be eaten) in order to comply with current “social distancing” recommendations. If possible, please contact the distribution site nearest you to sign up your child(ren) and to let them know of any food allergies and sandwich preferences so that the volunteers will be able to prepare (pre-registration is not required). If you would like to participate but live too far away for your children to walk to a distribution site, please contact the site nearest you. The site will be your best source for current information, delivery capabilities, etc. Volunteers and donations are also appreciated. If interested in helping, please contact one of the individuals below.
Thank you to all these amazing folks and the community members who continue to volunteer to help!

Come on out and join us! Cleaning up our town, together.
Alexandria Borough-PA So apparently the "alexandria borough" page feels it is OK to just delete comments posted by local residents who provide TRUTHFUL information or ask Questions. What they are NOT telling you is that the location is partly on Borough property and partly on Private property. Nor are they telling you the PRICE TAG that was given to us from the State whom have to approve this project... which would essentially take money from YOUR TAXES ($12,000-15,000 in PERMIT FEES ALONE... not to mention the building and inspection price). Meanwhile... NO PROGRESS HAS BEEN DONE ON THE DRAINAGE ISSUES OF BRIDGE STREET... which was discussed in November 11th 2019 meeting and it hasn't moved (yes, there was a meeting on November 11th of 2019 because President Judy Scott of Borough Council felt it didn't matter that it was VETERANS DAY and we should have a meeting anyway). File a RIGHT TO KNOW with the Borough or heck... ask me... I'll send you a copy!!!
Attention Alexandria borough residences June 2,2020 Has been moved from the Alexandria fire hall to the JV high school gym.
The Easter Bunny hopped by today to get a feel for our trucks! He is so excited to see everyone tomorrow! Here is our route of travel: Alexandria - we will follow our Santa Run route. We will be leaving the fire hall and travel Main Street to Juniata Valley Pike to Shelton Ave. We will travel that to Barree Road. We will return back to Main Street and travel to the shipping entrance of ACCO Brands. We will turn around and come back down Main Street. Then we go to Southside. This includes Juniata Street, Delmar Street, and Grange Hall Road. We will come back down 305 from Route 22. *Some places to see the Bunny; Main Street Cafe parking lot, empty lot near the old bank, ACCO Brands parking lot, the Porter Township building. Barree - We will be coming through Barree from the Alexandria side. We will be turning around at Teaberry Hollow Road. We ask that you please do not park at Teaberry Hollow so we have room to maneuver the trucks to turn around. Spruce Creek - We will be coming to Spruce Creek on the Union Furnace Road. We will travel route 45 to Colerain Park and turning around. *Some places to see the bunny; the white church, the tavern parking lot. ••• If you are driving to one of these areas to see him, please either remain in your vehicle or maintain a 6 foot distance from anyone not living in your house, if you have a mask, you are encouraged to wear it. Please be respectful of businesses and private property. •••

HIPPITY HOPPITY HERE HE COMES! The Alexandria Fire Company is all about our community that supports us. We understand during this uncertain time, things seem bleak. Easter is approaching and maybe you haven’t been feeling festive due to current situations going on. We’re here to help! We made some calls and Peter Cottontail himself has offered to come bring some cheer to our little community! We will be having a Bunny Run! •Saturday - April 11th• •We will be starting at the fire hall at noon. We will follow the same route we use with Santa Claus. •We will be escorting him through Barree at 1:30pm •We will then be escorting him through Spruce Creek at 2:30pm •You’ll know he’s coming when you hear the bunny music! Times are approximate! We’ve never had the pleasure of taking Mr. Cottontail before so we might be a little early or a little behind but we’re going to do our best to be on schedule! *Please note as this is important! We want everyone to adhere by the CDCs recommendations. Staying inside at your doors or windows and waving to the bunny would be ideal. If you wish to be outside to see him, please opt to wear a mask, maintain a 6 foot distance with anyone not living in your house, and please do not gather in groups larger than 6. Our communities health is at upmost importance to us and we only wish to bring cheer!
