Today, Louisiana lost a legend of the fire service, Bobby Strozier. He was a long time Carrol L. Herring Fire & Emergency Training Institute instructor and brought many years of wisdom to the classroom across Louisiana to aspiring firefighters. He always had a story, a joke, or a magic trick to share with every person he met.
Godspeed, sir! You will be missed.

Many of you have questions about the statewide burn ban that went into effect this morning.

Chief Browning took some time this AM to talk with Pure Country 106.7 in the Acadiana area to help clear up some of those questions.

But in short: Barbecue pits, fire pits and small campfires are permitted during the burn ban when used for brief, recreational purposes. Placing brush materials into a fire pit to burn away for extended periods of time is not. The containment method of the fire is not the exception, but rather the use is.

We are hoping residents of the state will take this opportunity to be a good neighbor by cooperating with this order.
