Alexandria, La Police Department

As New Year's Eve and New Year's Day approach, we want to remind everyone of a few safety issues.

1. Shooting fireworks is illegal inside the city, and bothers many of your neighbors and their pets. Please be courteous and do not shoot fireworks in Alexandria. We won't catch everyone, but we might catch you, and you risk confiscation and a hefty fine.

2. Firing guns into the air in celebration is illegal and dangerous (what goes up must come down). NEVER discharge a firearm to celebrate any holiday - you will be subject to arrest.

3. Don't drink and drive. Plan ahead with a designated driver or make arrangements to stay with someone if you're drinking. You not only risk being arrested when you drive drunk, you're risking your life and the lives of everyone else on the road.

We hope everyone has a safe & happy New Year's Holiday this week. APD officers will be diligently patrolling throughout the holiday.

Some tips from APD to keep you safe from grinches during the holiday shopping season.

Avoid Grinches this Holiday Season

Shopping Season is Here, and APD is prepared! As we have in the past, we will have additional officers deployed throughout shopping districts in Alexandria. You will see our increased presence as officers on foot, on bikes and in cars patrol high traffic areas.

This increased presence is to help stop grinches from committing thefts and vehicle burglaries. Remember, however, that we cannot be everywhere all the time, so please read the following tips and keep them in mind as you shop:

Buddy shopping is better than shopping by yourself.
Park in well-lit areas.
Don't buy things you cannot safely carry.
Be aware of your surroundings; pay attention to other people around you and stay off of phones and mobile devices when walking to and from your car.
Don't flash the cash!
Guard credit card and PIN numbers.
Let a friend or family member know what your shopping plans are, and touch base with them regularly.
Have emergency numbers pre-programmed in your phone.
Hide packages in your truck, or beneath seats or blankets.
If you see something suspicious, report it - be a good witness.

APD hopes everyone has a safe and happy holiday season!

If you live in the Hooper Road area off of Philadelphia Rd,be on the look out for a Caucasian Male ,Approx 5’7-9” tall dark hair carrying a back pack ,last seen on Ponderosa Rd off Q-Stockman .He shines a light in neighbors window last night then this morning he was run off and went thru my back yard from same residence again then around 630 my wife let our dog out and he was on the road walking back again, sees my wife and turns around .Sheriff came knocking this morning....we had no idea at time that this was going on !Then when the neighbor was going to work saw him on Q Stockman again, but he ran into woods!!!! If you are reading this and it’s you I am talking about be WARNED.....you will be shot at with intentions of hitting you !!! My wife will shoot you before I will don’t make the mistake of coming this way again !!!!!!YOU’VE BEEN WARNED
NO NEED FOR A REWARD 🗣🗣🗣 JUST WANT THE COMMUNITY OF WARDVILE TO HAVE BETTER PATROLLING ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHT after 10:30 pm because several people just roam the streets in and out of empty houses AND PEOPLES YARDS finding things to go trade for drugs and it’s very uncomfortable 😣 knowing there is total lawlessness out here and this could be a decent community if there were more police interaction with obvious criminal activity instead of just pretending it’s not happening
