National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released a draft version of the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, a new version of a tool it first released in 2014 to help organizations understand, reduce and communicate about cybersecurity risk.

The Federal Government’s Small Business Procurement Scorecard for FY2022 was released and the DoD Office of Small Business Programs is pleased to report an increased $2.7 Billion investment to expand small business participation in Defense Department contracting, the most significant investment to-date. Other significant results include:

⬆ Increased Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) by $5.0B

⬆Increased Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) by $900M

⬆Increased HUBZone by over $800M

⬆Increased Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) by over $600M

➕ Additional $55.5 Billion was subcontracted to small business from DoD's large prime suppliers.

Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) signed a memorandum of agreement to expand collaboration to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor defense industrial base. The MOA is a crucial step forward in implementing the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, a key part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.

The application deadline for Phase 1 of U.S. Economic Development Administration Tech Hubs Program is August 15. As part of this Notice of Funding Opportunity, EDA will designate at least 20 Tech Hubs and separately award grants to strengthen collaboration and accelerate strategy development for Tech Hubs.

The Tech Hubs Program is an economic development initiative designed to drive regional technology- and innovation-centric growth by strengthening a region’s capacity to manufacture, commercialize, and deploy critical technologies. This program will invest directly in regions with the assets, resources, capacity, and potential to transform into globally competitive innovation centers in approximately 10 years while catalyzing the creation of good jobs for American workers at all skill levels, both equitably and inclusively.

🚨 Attention Small Businesses🚨

U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking public input on improving the timeliness of payments to defense subcontractors. The request for feedback published Friday, July 14th in the Federal Register and stems from the Defense Contract Finance Study, which found that defense subcontractors and suppliers generally do not receive favorable cash flow benefits as consistently or to the same extent enjoyed by defense prime contractors. Input on this matter is solicited from interested parties, including current prime contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, or vendors, and potential new entrants. This is a great opportunity for small businesses in particular to have their voice heard.
