Hello everyone, my name is Tom, and I'm the founder of the Lakeside Heroes Initiative. I invite you to stay with me for a moment.
Over the past three years, I've been on a quest for understanding, wondering about the struggles I've faced and trying to make sense of them. This journey has taken me through various educational pursuits and training programs, even sending me across the ocean to contribute to a greater mission.
Recently, I sat in church with my wife and daughter, listening to a sermon. My daughter, having polished off a bag of mini donuts and two pieces of candy, climbed onto my lap, sitting quietly as we listened to the pastor. In that moment, I was struck by a profound realization. While I had been preoccupied with my to-do list and the next steps in my life, I suddenly recognized that this simple, beautiful moment, a behaved girl, my daughter on my lap, was exactly what I had been praying for.
What I want to share is this: the things we hope for, pray for, and work toward may already be within our reach. Oftentimes, we become distracted by life's challenges and anxiety-filled moments, which can cloud our perspective. It’s crucial to pause, take a step back, and reflect on our journeys and the progress we've made, all while keeping in mind where we came from.
As the classic quote says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
I encourage each of you to take a moment to pause, look around, and appreciate the progress you’ve made in your own life. You might be closer to your dreams than you realize.
