Just a little more info to get to know me. Why I know I can be a great Sheriff.

Deputy Kevin Schmidt, also a former firefighter with Algoma Fire and Rescue and alderperson on the Algoma City Council, announced his campaign for Kewaunee County Sheriff on Jan. 6. He is running on a platform of teamwork and continuous learning, citing his variety of experiences as an asset for the role.

One of my Sheriff goals is Teamwork. Not about what I can do. It’s about what we can do as a team.

If you want to do something tomorrow. Come out and support your local First Responders.

I’m out on patrol this weekend and unable to attend.

But I really appreciate what they do. It’s so nice having them assist with any type of emergency call before rescue gets there.

Also, TGIF I hope everyone got plowed out with this big snowstorm we had this week.
It’s nice seeing the snow melting.

Also a Big Thank You to all the First Responders that will be working for the blizzard. From Dispatchers and Jailers driving in the blizzard to get to work. To the Patrol Deputies out on the streets. The Fire and Rescue Agencies. I appreciate you all.

I was on patrol today, but no one needed my help. Hopefully everyone stays home.

As many of you know, I have been honored to serve with the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department for the past 25 years, with 22.5 of those years spent on patrol, working directly with and for the people of our community.

Serving in the county where I was raised has been a true privilege. I am deeply grateful for the friendships I have formed and the many individuals I have had the opportunity to meet throughout my career. This community has shaped who I am, and I am thankful for the trust and support it has shown me over the years.

I have been fortunate to work under three outstanding Sheriffs: Sheriff Zuege, Sheriff Cmeyla, and my current Sheriff, Matt Joski. Their leadership and dedication to public service have greatly influenced my professional growth, and I am sincerely appreciative of their mentorship.

Today, I am proud to announce that I am officially running for Kewaunee County Sheriff. The primary election will take place in August, followed by the general election in November 2026.

It would be a great honor and privilege to serve our community as your Sheriff. I am committed to continuing to protect, serve, and uphold the values that make Kewaunee County such a special place to live and work.
