I want to give a shoutout to 4-H. As a dad of five kids who all came up through the program, I've seen firsthand what it teaches — responsibility, budgeting, follow-through. It's one of the best programs we have for building strong, capable young people right here in Allen County.

(And yes — I may have walked away with a fire pit at the fair. Lucky night!)

Fair food tour continues! Thursday brought me to the Bath Wildcat Den for sausage & sauerkraut, and a chocolate creme pie for dessert that did not disappoint.

The best part of the night, though, was a great conversation with one of the volunteers about why volunteering matters so much to a community like ours.

Fair food tour continues! Tuesday was noodles night! Homestyle chicken and noodles from the Perry Boosters, and oriental beef and noodles from BoardWok Noodles. Both hit the spot!

Last night it was time to try the rib eye steak sandwich from the Allen County Cattle Producers, paired with a small order of Fiske's Fries. Another great dinner made by our neighbors.

Still out and about at the fair! If you see me, come say hello!
