May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, there is a FREE Virtual Adult Mental Health First Aid training on May 30th!

Mental health first aid for adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.

You will learn:

• Common mental health concerns among adults
• How to reduce stigma
• How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use problems in adults
• Skills to use a 5-step action plan to help an adult who may be facing a mental health, problem or crisis, such as su***de

For this training you MUST live, work, or worship in Collin County. If you do not and are still interested I can help connect you to one in your county.

A small group of women make and donate playing card holders for various groups. These make playing cards more comfortable for those with hand issues. Teachers of young children have also found them helpful in their classes.

We make these in a variety of fabrics for men, women and children. We will be glad to donate to any group that has a need. We have donated to several area senior centers as well as 55 plus communities, assisted living and memory care facilities and a few preschools. If the group is in the Allen/McKinney/Plano area, I would be glad to deliver. Otherwise, we'll work on details on an individual basis.

Please contact Carrie Brazeal via email at [email protected] for more information.
