With temperatures soaring across North Texas this week, Allen CERT wants to make sure our community stays safe. Heat-related illness is preventable!. Here's what to watch for and how to protect yourself and your neighbors:
Know the Signs
๐ธ Heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, cool/clammy skin, nausea, headache
๐ธ Heat stroke (emergency!): high body temp, hot/dry skin, confusion, rapid pulse, loss of consciousness.
Stay Safe Out There

Drink water regularly. Don't wait until you're thirsty

Limit outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours

Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
โ
Never leave kids or pets in a parked car even for a minute

Check on elderly neighbors, family, and anyone without reliable A/C
โ
Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning often
Stay hydrated, look out for one another, and let's get through this heat wave safely together!
