Congratulations to the members of Asbury Park Professional Firefighters Local 384 on the approval of a new firehouse. This new firehouse will give the career firefighters of Asbury Park the ability to safely serve their community for years to come.

4/29/22, Asbury Park, NJ – The City of Asbury Park is in the preliminary stages of design for a new firehouse to be located on Memorial Drive between Bangs and Springwood Avenues. The City’s engineering firm, T&M Associates, along with project architect Shore Point Architecture, presented design plans to Mayor and Council at the Wednesday, 4/27/22 Council Meeting. The approximately 30,000 square foot facility will include an emergency management command center, a meeting room, a museum area and flex space for training, rentals and special events. The City is also considering installation of rooftop solar panels.

“We are thankful to Mayor & Council for providing the opportunity to construct a new firehouse,” said Asbury Park Fire Department Chief Kevin Keddy, “The current facility has served the City for well for over a century. It’s time to move our team into a modern building to better support our current needs and prepare for the future. This facility is not only an investment in the Fire Department, but also an investment in the community we serve.”

In addition to hiring to increase our career staff to thirteen members, the Board approved a schedule change for our personnel shifting to a 24 on 72 off rotation.

This schedule change will bring the promotion of two members, Keith Buckalew and Matthew Wagner.

Additionally the Board has accepted the changing of career fire officers titles from Lieutenant to Captain.

We would like to thank the Board of Fire Commisioners for accepting these changes as well as Chief Wagner, the fire department personnel, and local unions for their continuous support.

Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 marked the 17th anneversary of the Millstone Township Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF L - 4388. When the local was first formed in 2005, it had only four members providing daytime staffing to Millstone Township. Since our inception, our roles have changed as we now consist of 12 full time firefighter or fire officers, providing 24/7 Fire and EMS staffing. Though our job duties have been adjusted over the years, the members of IAFF L-4388 core values remain the same. Our union members commitment to public safety and community remains paramount.
