Meet Tilly!
Our Crabapple Senior Center had a very special visitor this month—Tilly, a beautiful 5-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog who is being fostered by one of our volunteers, Mary Jo.
Mary Jo is not only one of our Meals on Wheels pack-out volunteers, but she also works with Speak Rescue and Sanctuary, an animal rescue dedicated to helping special-needs dogs. Tilly has a terminal kidney disease that will shorten her life, but Mary Jo is determined to make every moment she has filled with love, fun, and adventure—including a special visit to the senior center!
Over the years, Mary Jo has fostered, trained, and helped find loving homes for many special dogs. She has also experienced the heartbreak of saying goodbye to some because of illness or medical conditions. Yet she continues to open her heart and home to dogs who need someone willing to see their worth and give them a chance.
We were so grateful to share a little time with Tilly and to witness the incredible love Mary Jo gives to these special fur babies.
We are truly blessed to call Mary Jo our friend and volunteer. Thank you, Mary Jo, for reminding us that sometimes the biggest hearts come with four paws.
