If canvassing is more your thing, join Rosetta “Rosie” Brown’s campaign and the Greater Godfrey Democrats at Glazebrook Park, 10:00 AM for a canvassing event!

On Friday evening, Democrat Chairpersons and candidates from across Madison County joined local organizers (Anna Marie Bell, Andi Smith, David Vitoff, Clayton Monroe and more), as well as fellow community members on the courthouse steps in Edwardsville for a candlelight vigil honoring those who have died in ICE custody or while detained in immigration detention centers.

As candles flickered against the summer evening, we stood together in remembrance — for the lives lost, for the families left grieving, and for the urgent need for accountability and humane treatment in our immigration system.

Thank you to everyone who came out to stand in solidarity and hold space for those we’ve lost. Moments like these remind us why community and compassion matter now more than ever.

If you weren’t able to join us, we invite you to reflect, to speak up, and to stay engaged as we continue to advocate for justice and human dignity for all. 💙

Today is packed with educational and action-driven events! Spend your Saturday morning at the YWCA to hear about the Voting Rights Act and how the SAVE Act impact our community, then join Rosetta “Rosie” Brown’s campaign to return that knowledge to your community with her Civic Saturdays canvassing event!

Civic Saturdays: The Freedom to Vote

Immediately following the Town Hall, volunteers and community members are invited to join our district-wide canvassing and voter engagement effort.

Civic Saturdays is a community-based voter outreach initiative focused on:

Organized precinct-based canvassing
Voter education and engagement
Volunteer recruitment
Voter registration resources
Community fellowship and neighborhood outreach
Our goal is simple: reach voters where they live, listen to their concerns, and encourage participation in the democratic process. Canvassing remains the primary focus of the day and volunteers of all experience levels are welcome.
