Good Monday Afternoon Amarillo!

I know I’ve been quiet for a bit. After the election, I needed time to regroup and repair the toll the campaign took on my business.

To everyone who supported me—I’m deeply grateful. Your encouragement meant everything, and while I’m not sure yet what the future holds politically, I haven’t lost sight of the promise I made: to be part of the solution and to help make Amarillo better for everyone.

That’s why I’ve updated this page to simply “Leif Kertis for Amarillo.” This journey was never just about a campaign—it was about service. I’m in ongoing discernment with the intent to join a few local boards later this year, and I’ve begun working with private citizens on initiatives that will benefit our entire city.

My commitment hasn’t changed. I’m still here, working for Amarillo—shoulder to shoulder with you, my neighbors, peers, and fellow citizens.

The writing is pretty much on the wall for this election. The incumbent will win by a considerable margin. We congratulate Mr Simpson on being elected. I’m going to end up with roughly 2500-3000 votes. Let me say, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you. Thank you to those people who believed in my vision. Thank you to my volunteers who went above and beyond.

I’m not sure what the future holds for me. The negative attacks took a major toll on my family and my business, so I’ll need time to regroup. I’m still all in for Amarillo though and that will never change.

I'm deeply honored and energized by the overwhelming support from our community in the Amarillo City Election. This campaign has been more than just a political endeavor; it's been a testament to the power of grassroots activism and the collective voice of our citizens.

From the outset, our movement was built on the principles of transparency, accountability, and genuine representation. We faced significant challenges, including well-funded opposition and attempts to push through measures that didn't reflect the will or best interests of Amarillo residents. Yet, time and again, our community has stood strong behind me. Thank you, Amarillo, for believing in this vision and for standing together to shape a brighter future. Get out and vote; let’s finish this!

While the opposition continues to run smear campaigns as a distraction I’m still focused on the issues:

-Why did the incumbent suddenly want to replace outside legal counsel—right after they raised concerns about the AEDC and the Range?

-At the January 28th City Council meeting, the incumbent spoke with conviction about replacing AEDC board members, stating: "The sooner, the better." Yet once more issues came to light, the incumbent fervently fought to delay action until after the election. Why the sudden flip?

The AEDC is an issue that taxpayers want answers and action on, yet as soon as issues arose that possibly implicated his supporters the incumbent did everything in his power to delay that action. Why? You as taxpayers deserve the answer. I plan to continue working with the newly appointed board on reform and progress in the AEDC! Does the incumbent? Recent actions say no.

I refuse to step into the arena of negative personal attacks, and I continue to urge my supporters to do the same. Let’s stay focused on the issues—despite the incumbent and his supporters refusing to do so, as shown by yet another reference to a case that was dismissed with prejudice—a case I’ve been fully transparent about from the beginning.

The truth is, the incumbent can’t beat me on the real issues facing our city—and both he and his supporters know it. Just remember: the same people trying to stir controversy over a closed case are the ones insisting there was nothing wrong with the $650,000 wire transfer from the AEDC to the Range—despite clear evidence that it was improper.

No matter what, the personal attacks against any candidate need to stop. Let’s give our city the honest, issue-based campaign it deserves.

Today I was honored to receive the endorsement of Amarillo's local Teamsters chapter: Teamsters Local 577

This endorsement is a powerful affirmation of my unwavering commitment to represent ALL the people of Amarillo. These workers are the backbone of our city- encompassing freight, warehousing, vital logistics, and many other services!

Thank you, Teamsters, for your trust, your hard work, and your dedication to this community. I will always be an advocate for those who show up, get it done, and make Amarillo stronger every single day.

🚨Please share to show your support of me!🚨

Now is the time to publicly show support of your candidates! Your share reaches a minimum of 20 people!

We’re gaining momentum: I know this because Mr Simpsons supporter Steve Pair, the downtown mafia, and Amarillo Matters group are once again circulating the distractions and attack posts on myself and other candidates running against theirs!

By the way….still crickets 🦗🦗🦗on the debate challenge. They want no part of actual discussion on issues!
