American Canyon Council (sans one) made it to the Vallejo Pista Sa Nayon opening parade. Thanks for letting us march with you FilAm of American Canyon. What a great morning.

I had not been in a few years and it's grown so much — bigger stages, more food, more vendors, more people and a lot more fun. Congrats to the organizers and the growing community supporting it.

If you don't know, Pista sa Nayon translates from Tagalog to "town festival" or "fiesta in the village". It is a traditional Filipino community celebration. These vibrant gatherings bring people together to celebrate local culture, harvests, or patron saints through traditional food, folk dancing, music, and crafts.

I did a thing today.

Beef, pork, fish, tofu, spicy, mild, sweet, sour, soup, rice, noodles, and General Tsao’s chicken….this year’s choice for California Governor was an elaborate Chinese menu! So many candidates.

Attended the Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park this morning and appreciated hearing the stories and wisdom shared by keynote speaker and American Canyon resident Albert Matel. Mr. Matel served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and later as a recruiter.

Thank you to the staff at the City of American Canyon - Government and volunteers who helped organize another thoughtful and well-run event. The ceremony’s simplicity, sincerity, and focus on remembrance always feel especially meaningful.

Today we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

American Canyon neighbors — I hope you’ll join the upcoming SR29 Improvement Project Community Workshop on Wednesday, May 27 from 5:30–7:00 PM at City Hall.

I’ll be there, and I encourage everyone who cares about traffic, safety, transit, biking, walking, and the future of our city’s main corridor to attend and share your feedback.

I know many residents are thinking: “Haven’t we done dozens of these workshops over the years?” Fair question (it was my first question!). Of course we have. But if the Napa Valley Transportation Authority and Caltrans Bay Area-District 4 are to be believed, we are closer than ever to a real, funded path forward for SR29 improvements in American Canyon.

That means your input matters now more than ever.

The proposed improvements include upgraded transit stops, safer pedestrian crossings, bike and pedestrian paths, landscaping, buried utility lines, and traffic/transit enhancements along the corridor. And no roundabouts.

Please come out, ask questions, and make your voice heard. Be there!

Had a great time this morning speaking on misinformation and public trust alongside Suisun Mayor Alma Hernandez.

We talked about something every city is dealing with right now: how fast bad information spreads, and how important it is to respond with clarity, consistency, and a little humility. The reality is you don’t control the narrative, but you can absolutely influence it if you show up early and often. And trust is built before the crisis, not during it.

Big thanks to the organizers and to everyone who joined the conversation. Always good to swap real-world lessons instead of theory.
