For our next book club event, the girls will discuss "Absolutely Truly" by Heather Vogel Frederick on February 13th. Registration will be open mid December. Drop by the Library to pick up a book in preparation for this event (for girls, ages 8-12, and their Mother or other caring adult).
Thanks to the Community and Hillcrest Elemantary School for the great support of the Family Reading Week Open House last week. It was a HUGE success!
All area children and their families and invited to the Family Reading Week Open-House at the AF Library Wednesday, November 20, 5:30-7 pm. Every child will receive a free book!
We've got another fun Munching with Monet, Nov. 21st. Note: It starts at 6:30. Sign up today; space is limited
From now until November 18, you can come in and pay down your fines by bringing in cans off food! 1 can = $1 off your late fines. This does not apply to fees that have been applied to your account because of lost/damaged items. Feeling charitable? Come see if your neighbor has a fine and pay that off as well!

Fun storytimes for October: Leaves, Dragons, Monkey hats, Pumpkin craft, Spider Cookies. Join us on Tues or Friday.
Boys ages 8-12 and their father, or another caring adult, are invited to participate in the American Falls Library Father-Son book club. The group will meet Thursday, October 10 at 7 pm. to enjoy a lively book discussion, share adventure, and meet new friends. Refreshments will be served. Stop by the library to register and check out a book in preparation for this event. Participants must register by Oct. 3.

Kids' Club will kick off a new season on September 11th, 1:30 pm. Kids, ages 5-12 are invited to join in the fun.
We're excited for storytimes to get going again!!
We'll be starting with painting a beehive with bubble wrap,
then the second week we'll decorate squirrels using real pine-cones. The third week, we'll make banjos.
Storytimes will start on Sept. 10th and 13th at 10:30. Call 208-226-2335 for more information
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS WILL START SOON AT THE LIBRARY
Our first Storytime of the school year will be Tuesday, September 10, and Kids Club will start September 11.
STORYTIME is a fun program for preschool-age children every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. We have fun stories with puppets, songs, finger plays and crafts each week, as well as early literacy tips. All toddler and preschool-age children are welcome to attend with their parents.
KIDS CLUB is held every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Kids Club is an awesome program for school-aged children and offers stories, crafts Lego days, science, games and lots of fun. There is no need to sign up; just come when you can.
Mother/Daughter Book Club
We will kick off a new season of Girls’ and Boys’ Book Clubs with a GREAT READS FOR GIRLS Event Sept. 12 at 7 PM. The group will discuss “Because of Winn Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo.
“MUNCHING WITH MONET” at the library
Come join us for our last event of the summer, with instructor, Tenille Rudeen. You’ll have fun painting and enjoying refreshments! It will be Wednesday, August 14th at 7:00 pm in the community room of the library.
Painting of the evening: Bring your own choice of picture to paint or finish any masterpiece from an earlier “Munching with Monet” evening.
Pre-registration is required. $15 for a new project with canvas; or finish a past project $5. Space is limited, so sign up today! For ages 18 and up.

Our Children's Summer Reading Program, "A Universe of Stories", concluded last Friday with a “SPLASH DOWN” water party, featuring an inflatable water slide, water games and a toddler splash pool.

The Adult and Teen Summer Reading Programs will end this Friday, July 26, so be sure to get your reading logs turned in to be eligible to win some great prizes.
WATER DAY!! Tomorrow, the 19th, is the last Summer Reading program. Wear something that can get wet, and bring a towel. Also, everyone will receive a FREE BOOK!

MUNCHING WITH MONET We have been having a lot of fun with our “Munching with Monet” painting classes, and the snacks have been yummy!
We will be offering our 3rd fun night of painting and food with our instructor, Tenille Rudeen. It will be held Wednesday, July 17th at 7:00 pm in the community room of the library.
Don’t worry about producing a masterpiece; it’s all about fun and food, not fine art. Come join us! For ages 18 and up. Pre-registration ($15) is required. Space is limited, so sign up today! All painting materials are included in your $15 fee.
Harry Potter Escape Room at the Library July 31, 10 AM-6 PM
Sessions are limited so drop by and reserve your spot soon.
Did you know that you can turn in Summer Reading logs, even if they're late? It's true!! So bring in any late reading logs, and your child will receive a prize for meeting their reading goal. And keep reading this summer!!!
We are in need of paper towel tubes for Summer Reading craft. We need about 70 in two weeks, but if you have one or two and everybody else has one or two, we might have enough!!!
Teen Summer Activity at the Library tomorrow, Wednesday, June 19 from 2-4. All area youth, ages 12-18 are invited.

FREE BOOKS at Lunch in the Park Today!
The American Falls District Library staff will be on location from 12:00 to 1 p.m. at Vard Meadows Park today, June 11, Lee St. Park tomorrow, and the City Park Thursday, June 13, to give away free books to children and teens.
The books are available through a program sponsored by the Idaho Commission for Libraries to raise awareness of the importance of continued reading during the summer months and to encourage families to visit their local library and to participate in summer reading programs and activities. The Library offers summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults.
