We recently had the opportunity to visit Video Aerial Systems, a locally based company specializing in advanced antenna systems for military drone and UAV applications. Founded by Alex Greve, the company is helping support critical defense and aerospace missions through innovative communications technology. The tour showcased the impressive technical expertise and precision manufacturing taking place right here in Amherst County. We understand that residents have questions and concerns regarding reports of a potential data center site being evaluated in the area. At this time, no formal development application has been approved, and no commitments have been made to any potential industry, buyer, operator, or end user.
As with many large commercial or industrial properties, inquiries and preliminary evaluations may occur from time to time. Those discussions are part of a standard due diligence process and do not guarantee that a project will move forward.
If a formal proposal is submitted in the future, it would be subject to the applicable review, permitting, and public engagement processes. Community input, infrastructure impacts, land use compatibility, environmental considerations, traffic, utilities, and long-term planning implications would all be evaluated through the appropriate channels.
We value transparency and responsible planning, and we are committed to sharing accurate information as it becomes available. Until a formal application is filed, speculation regarding specific users, timelines, or project details would be premature.
We will provide updates through official channels should additional information become available.

Had a great site visit with Richard Morgan at Heartpine in Amherst! It was impressive to see how craftsmanship and innovation come together to create beautiful wood flooring and specialty wood products from both new and reclaimed wood. Heartpine’s commitment to quality, maximizing materials, and preserving the history of reclaimed wood is a great example of manufacturing excellence in Amherst County. We appreciate Richard sharing his passion for the business and look forward to seeing future growth opportunities for Heartpine!
